Uh well...........start looking? I dont know the best way but pounding the pavement and getting out and knocking on doors, craigslist and the papers. Go to the truck stops and look at the names on the day cabs, most of them will be local and you could probably talk to a few of the drivers.

FedEx Freight is hiring out of Wheeling, WV.
But they require at least 2 years of whistle-clean exp, I think. -
I dont know about WV but here in cali unless you have 6months-5years of experiance seat time in a tractor trailer they will tell you to pound sand... I got my Class A in July with tripples tanker and hazmat and I have 5 years of dirving class B trucks yet I walk into a trucking office and the first question out of there mouth is "how much experiance?" I tell them they say must have XXXXXX amount sorry other places i have gone will have me sit there for 2 hours filling out there 35 page application the Hiring manager will walk out look it over and say everything looks great but once you have OTR experiance come back untill then we cant bring you on insurance reasons....
So now I am looking for central to bring me on for my OTR experiance... Dose this sound like your eperiance with getting picked up by a company or have you started looking?
Good luck -
if you haven't tried, go to Craig's List, Monster.com, My career buider, and do a search for driver leasing companies as well.. from there you can try any LTL companies like ABF, Yellow, Roadway, FedEx......now at any of these places they may NOT hire you as a driver, but maybe a dock worker instead, or yardman. its a "foot in the door" job, just take it. sometimes, they will promote from with-in meaning they might someday train you themselves for a driving job.

If you have a Ryder or Penske truck rental place nearby, not the guys that rent the little U-Haul trucks, but big trucks, go there and write down the names of every day cab you see. Well, name and DOT number. Then go home and do a little interweb research. You could compile a very good list of local jobs and possible employers in one or two days.
Now comes the hard part, badger the hell out of those that you want to work for! Eventually persistence will pay off! I have used this method successfully in the past. -
get the names of the members of the West Virginia Motor Carriers Association and start knocking on doors...

Con-Way Freight, at least in my opinion, would rather take on new drivers. LTL business has been up and down lately all around from what I understand, so you may still have to wait some. I spent 2-plus years there before moving on. You will be home every day/night depending on whether you run p&d or linehaul. They will spend some time training you unlike some of the other LTL carriers. I don't have a whole lot else good to say about them, but if you can hang in with them for a couple of years, you will be able to move on more easily if you choose to.
