All the Petes Have 1500 Watt inverters in them from the Factory, with Wall outlets in the truck, also they have Bunk Heaters in them that work rather well, I run a Microwave, Laptop, and Dorm Frig with mine at the same time.

DocHoliday, I live in eastern NC and was wondering what is the closest terminal to me. I read where you live in eastern VA so you are close to me, just curious. Where would I have to go to do orientation? I would want to run 48-states. Most of my experience is pulling reefer hauling meat. Keep posting, everything is very interesting to read...

    Thx

Hey everyone.i worked at jbs for a year. Crieg was my dispatcher.my problem with them was I couldn't get home. I stayed out 3 wks or longer, and gave dispatch a 3wk notice for my timeoff. But still could not get home. I was on time with pic ups and delv's. I have 2 kids,10 months and 11 yr old. Not being able to get home when they have 3 wk notice was too much to take.I know there are whinny drivers there at jbs but there's also the guys who do their job and expect to get home when they put in for it.I wish doc the best of luck. My best friend marvin jones is still over there but he transfered to hyrum fleet. I moved on and I'm working for j.s. helwig & son out of rockwall,tx.I've worked here b4 and great equipment here and great miles and pay is great, and I get home with no bs. If you have a problem here, which does or will happen like every company, james is always ready to listen and solve it. He is a driver himself and will always listen to you.apu's on every truck here and james is buying new trucks and trals now. Getting the cascadias. And its a small fleet,120 units right now and capping at 200 trucks and new yrd being built in terrell,tx. I miss the insurance at jbs but that's it. .37 a mile here and run good miles. Hope the best for you doc.dispatch there sure needs some help.best of luck.

Please Doc, Utah terminal is spelled Hyrum, been here for 25 years- 16 in a truck. That truck being a Double-bunk Volvo. You said Miller was in financial trouble, not true, that plant was always profitable and the Miller family tried to keep it out of the buyout and go back independant. No deal.
As for being spoiled, I guess we we're. Company paid cell-phones, twice the 401k company match, and the insurance was half the cost with half the deductable it is today. JBS did get us detention pay, higher mileage and breakdown pay. But being turned down from 70 to 65 is drag, 7.2% ate into the .40. As for elogs, everyone in a major company will be on them. I still make good money and I am home every few days running the southwest and back, even if it is just for the night. I've heard nothing but good things about the Greeley people and operations. Wish they would clean house over here again. Bottom line is I'm still here, by choice.

    Ok First Lastride,
Tell James and His Son I said Hi, trust me James Helwig Knows who I am as I worked for an O/O who leased to him before he sold the original James Helwig and Sons.

    Rodster,
You might have a double Bunk Volvo but you as well as I both know that will not last long as the fleet is being replaced with the Pete 387. there are a few left in the fleet and greenbay almost all the trucks they have are double bunk Petes Green as a matter of fact.
As for what you feel about the Miller Family financial situation Like my Signature says friend there are three sides to a story. I have been in the beef industry for 23 years having started out hauling them alive, then swinging and now Laying down in a Box. There is more to things sometimes than what it appears. I know just as you do that the old man down in Brazil has done some things that we all might not agree with.
As for trucks being turned down well you are 100% right as this is the first truck in 23 years I have driven that has a speed limit to it. I believe they should turn them all up wide open, it is the person who holds the CDL's responsibility to keep that piece of plastic in his pocket. You and I both are here by choice and I think with some of the changes Mo and Russell are making this place will get better.

As far as Home time I have heard both sides of the fence folks like me who get home when they schedule it and those who do not. I live in Southeastern Virginia and when I set home time My DM gets me home, now I have two DM's and I have been assured by the Lady who is now on my fleet this will not be an issue.

I will say this again to everyone, JBS is not for everyone, it is a MEAT company that owns the trucking company waiting happens, nothing is perfect, and this company like all the others out there HAS it's issues. For some it will work I just happen to fit in rather well. I will kiss no ones ###, I am respectful to those in the office, and to my Customers all 45 million of them( I am referring to the fourwheeler's too) as they are all people who buy what I haul) I have no issues here, Many of my friends have come to work here now and all seem to be happy as a Pig in mud. Some of these guys I have known since working on the farm they Like Myself, worked in their fathers footsteps. Having worked cattle, Hogs and crops we just want to do our jobs, and get paid well for it. So JBS works for us, the next fella in line to work here it might not. I do not sit much unless like right now 7 days after my last reset I am doing it again. I am out of Hours in 7 days and I have run 3654 Paid miles Since last Wednesday according to My Logs and Load sheets So Yes I am Happy as all get out. I am not on here to Field off the negative comments from Prior JBS drivers and I wish like hell they would read the title of the Thread " MY adventure at JBS Carriers" I started it and if you have something Negative to Say Start a THREAD for Negative. This is in the GOOD section. Thanks Ya'll and Have a safe Day.

Rodster Be careful out there and By the way I rather Enjoy the Hiram terminal. Had to do it wrong just one more time for you.

Did James Get all the girls Back in Payroll, and HR ? Some great people over there.

As for Russell well the jury is out on that one, and We Lost Steve Edwards recently word is he left the company to pursue his Business, either way it is a loss to the company, Russell is making a lot of changes and he has "said he can do this and do that" well now it is time to show what he can do, Sad thing for him if he does not put up he too will be gone.

Russel is not going to go anywhere, MO brought him in hand picked. If they want to make this a more driver friendly company, they have a lot of changes to make. Having a company policy that dis allows you to be an unhappy employee is not friendly. Being threatened often with termination is not friendly. You have been here a short time and was not here to see how it used to be. It has gotten better in some respects, but not in others. This company will do some wild things to get you home. I did not have to fight, but i know a driver who did, because the load planner wasn't willing to do anything and had to get Russel involved. JBS could be a great company with noting but miles, however that is not what they want. We are considered a common carrier at the plants like any other carrier with a DOT number. We are just clean up for what nobody else wants to do. I know you want only positive reinforcement about JBS, but as you told me "tell both sides of the story". What about a payroll DEPT> that sends messages out about how you turn in your paperwork that has already been transflo'd. Complaining about receipts being stapled to the top sheet and not on back. Complaining about confirmation receipts being left on trip reports when given to payroll. I guess you do not get these messages on your qualcomm. Many other drivers do, so if you think i am making this up, talk to other drivers who have gotten them. Remember theres Your side, My side, and THE TRUTH about jbs. You need to put the sugar canister down and take your rose colored sunglasses off and look at the real world there DOC.
