We aren't talking about closed, we're talking about open scale with red light but bypass sign.
believe it or not, I think otherhalf agrees with me on just passing it while ironpony says stop. I just pointed out an error in oh's post and he's mad about it.

Obviously if the scale is closed you pass by. I was talking about open scales ! If scale is open you do what your pre-pass box tells you. If it doesn't flash at all you pull into the scale.otherhalftw and rocknroll nik Thank this.

If the scales are closed then just take a sigh of relief and keep going. For open scales you follow what your pre-pass tells you.rocknroll nik Thanks this.

How about I put my Bachelor's Degree in English Comprehension against your twisting words and trying to play some semantics game with me?
In the described situation...PP does not always trump the road sign directive. A scale can be open, but bypassing an overflow of trucks stacking up on the Interstate! You get a red light on your in cab as you pass the second identifier...but approaching the scale entrance, the controlling sign says bypass.
TWIST THAT AROUND! I think most drivers here understand the assumption and condition when a PP red in cab, will not ALWAYS pull you into the scale. Experience pays off sometimes.
Fact and truth can be something a bit enlightening or biting! However, experience along with going on 2 million miles does garner an acquisition of knowledge...when applied correctly...can be helpful!
Spin away young warrior!
CORRECT...although you changed my wording...I did not say "the only exception being if it's closed"...here is EXACTLY WHAT I POSTED! (Using the "quote" with copy/paste is a marvelous tool...don't you think?)
CORRECT AGAIN. Now where does this get so confusing to you?
SEE EXPLANATION ABOVE....there are ALWAYS exceptions to any rule and regulation...especially in this industry and DOT!
Do I need a cigarette...will this be getting exciting?
By George, I think he's got it!
You missed the third option...red light, scale open, and the entrance sign is telling the trucks to bypass.
Contrary to your understanding...and lack of reading my previous posts of two years...if and when I make a statement that proves to be in error, or if my wording has led others astray...I have no problem admitting and apologizing for wrong information or statements by my hand (fingers)...and I do LOVE to play semantics with other posters...spelling, grammar, and punctuation errors are my calling...semantics is a sideline, but a good one!
Hopefully you understand my original post now...if you need any further clarification...press 1 for English, 2 for Spanish....don't hold on the line for anything except English! -
Canada doesnt utilize prepass correct? In canada the nazi's at the scales just turn the lights on and off, everyone must pull in for the money grab when lights on.

If i was in doubt i would just pull in, lotsa time i made a pitstop and used the johny jon out back , grab a sandwich fromm cooler if they was closed.
kd5icr Thanks this. -
Everett...just be sure not to mix up where you get the sandwich and where you leave a "deposit"!
wulfman75 and outerspacehillbilly Thank this. -
Now I'm confused! The sad part is, I don't have prepass so really none of this pertains to me...lol. None the less I'm still confused.
outerspacehillbilly Thanks this. -
