I've ran a 12V mattress heater that goes between the sheets and mattress since 02 and never had dead batteries in the morning. My current truck only has 3batteries and still no problems even with my computer running at night. I do unplug my cooler at night though. It works best to turn it on about an hr before you go to bed and make sure your blankets are covering the bed. It doesn't work for crap if the blanket isn't covering the mattress. It is really nice when you go to sleep to have warm bed, and in the morning your sheets aren't ice cold.

flannel sheets and a good down comgforter--like the man said south east regional--he will need ac a lot more than a heater

Hell,........It doesn't really get that cold up here,.....

Thank you all for the help... My husband seems to be stuck on a heater or a warming blanket... We will see what he thinks... He just got his TV so he is happy for right now... But you would be surprised at how cold (to us) it gets down south... When your used to 100 and your hitting 34 at night its kind of a big change...

Simple, refuse to work for a company that puts more value on fuel cost than human life.

Well since you say he runs "southeast regional" I doubt that he'll be seeing too many life-threatening nights. But if he does (and for lots of others reading this in the northern routes this winter) I got a "Marmot" sleeping bag and swear by it. It's light but warm. They have a whole line of them if you Google it. I got the "Sawtooth" model which is good to 15 degrees, but they have others that go to zero and even below. They aren't cheap, but worth every penny.
Now I haven't heard of ANY company that won't let the driver idle in life-threatening winter temperatures, so a good bag ought to do it for him IMO. -
