People keep talking about American trucks. But only two brands of trucks are still made in the US.
That is Volvo and Mack, for the American market.
All Paccar trucks, Freightliner, International etc are made outside the US now.
So it is more US style trucks.
I like the disk brakes they have in EU. I hope that we can swap to them in the near future.
They are cheaper to maintain, easier to change, and no brake fade that you get with drum brakes.

I like the disk breaks as well. We have a mixture over here but disk breaks are taking a larger slice of the market every year. I have heard that they don't do well on muddy roads. Then it is from the same people who say air suspension does not work well on rough roads so I take this with a pinch of salt.

yes they are not good for dust mud and rocks ( for us my family have construction trucks )

when they are in mud on wet they dont break ......

i have driven on 4axle tipper truck with 16.5x10 inch drum brakes on rear and disc on booth front axle and when you are downhill you have feeling that your rear axles not break

You are right! all European trucks have drum brake verisons, for mud and sand. There is no Volvo FH with drum brakes, but FM/FMX with drum brakes are available.

All dump trucks are with drum brakes.

If I'm not mistaken, Peterbilts are still built in Denton, and Kenworths are built in Washington and Ohio. Paccar just built an engine plant in Columbus, MS.

More then half of cabine parts are made in Europe. Really this is Volvo FM cabine (narrow) ore FH (wide) with added hood sleeper (in US). Cabine is exported to the USA w/o rear wall. I know they did it five years ago, no I'm not sure, may be the make it fully in the USA.

D9B, D12F, D13A/B and D16C engines are made in Belgium ore Goteborg and shiped to the USA.
