I start training Monday in Asheboro, NC to drive for Central. Least the school is close to home and I think I made the right choice. God willing I'll be in a truck soon enough..

its not as bad as other companies. but it's far from perfect. Good luck in school and stay strong. Its an accelerated course and they beat you up mentally.

Have been so busy I have not been on here since April or maybe March!!! Hubby still doing ok with Central. We are scheduled to buy our truck in April of 2011. They already gave us the price, and it was decent. Have finance company and should be able to pay off truck in no less than a year and a half. Our truck has been a good one, no problems, just have done regular maintenance is all. We got a great deal on tires at Central, we only use the duels, only paid $933 for all eight, brand new!!! I was stoked!!!

Have also been talking with Landstar owner/ops and with Landstar itself and it must be one of the best for owner ops. Everyone I have talked to says they only wish they had gone with them sooner!!! Hard to get on sometimes they have to have a opening and don't have much turnover. Drivers seem to stay with them. Don't know what we are going to do as of yet, but happy to say buying the truck is not a problem.:biggrin_255:

Sorry to hear so much bad news...praying that things will get better.

On another note, have been keeping up with other truckers news. Idaho wants truckers to pay their fair share in taxes for roads!!:biggrin_2559: I laugh and I wrote the Senator, We pay more taxes than anyone else!!! We pay heavy usage tax, IFTA, etc. WTF do they want from us, I figure government won't be happy till they get our blood or kill us all. :biggrin_25516:

It is because they are not looking at all the money we are paying in. They are only looking at the tax we pay at the pump while we are in the state.
    They just need an education.

Just say no to the Turd blow 3000.
I understand the concept behind it, but I do not believe it will do anything on a 2007+ model year truck. And I have never heard from anyone that they will stand behind the warranty when you are not happy.

So started with class today. Fridays they bring you in to get your DOT done along with some other paper work. Only 5 people this week. I like the fact that there is such a small class. I've herd of other programs having 40-50. Passed the DOT with no issues. I guess they are doing the work well test the last day of class. I guess if you dont pass it then they still will want your money lol...

Congrats Smurfette! I am stoked for you! You are going to have a blast! Won't be long and you will have your own truck. Freight should be really starting to pick-up so put your driving gloves on and be ready to lay it down! Have fun, drive safely and like I use to tell my wife every single day, "slow down and pay attention!" oh yeah and also "never swerve just hit it!" Good luck!

Any of you new guys going to Fontana for training, rest assured you will be the best backers out there! The yard there is super tight and is mixed with angle and straight parking spots. Even the truck wash is a challenge getting into.
