So I am standing in line at the DMV this morning at 7:30 waiting for it to open at 8:00 freezing because I forgot my hat. I walk in and after about 20 minutes and $50 I start my written permit test. It takes twice to pass combination (missed it by one question). Everything else is good the first time; I'm just thankful no hazmat due to not turning 21 until december. As I walk out of the dmv with my permit the reality finally sets in that I am really going to become a truck driver and all the changes that it will bring. I am curious when did it start to sink in for you?

I think it really sunk in like you say, when I was packing for my first time. Thinking about being gone for so long and the wife being here all alone. It's the hardest part of all of it. Just have to make the sacrifice for now.

Right about the first time my instructor told me to take the onramp to the interstate. I almost wet myself, I was so scared...

A little over a year ago, I was with my first trainer and like you I about wet myself, but, I was getting off of the interstate and came on the off ramp a little HOT and well it was a hairpin and well let's just say I had to stand on the brakes to keep from putting it on it's side....I did indeed learn from that though and am a better driver because of it...
