The company I used to drive for had quite a few 387's. The drivers hated them at first, they were used to a long hood. They got to like them after a bit and the only real complaint was the squeeking and rattling in the cab. They have tons of room in the cab and turn nice and tight. Good mpg's too.

I drove one for about an hour and it was a nice ride. The mirrors were in kind of a odd spot (seemed low) but you would get used to that quick.

Aside from that, nothing really major at all. The cruise control quit working but that was due to the Eaton Vorad radar. I fixed that myself. I had to replace a cab airbag, that took a whole 7 minutes. I also replaced the windshield washer motor, another quick job. Just minor stuff.
Even with the issues I've had, I really like this truck. The T600 is too small inside for my liking.

Gears--a couple more questions: What year/how many miles does your truck have now and how many did you put on since you've had it? What's the engine? Did you get it from a dealer, off lease, repossed, o/o?

    Geeze dude...you're awfully nosy! (kidding)

It's a 2004 with a Cummins ISX. I traded in my 2000 Freightliner Century Class at a Pete dealer in Rogers (Minneapolis) MN. This truck was a former Summit truck, not a frickin' Werner truck like everyone says. It had just over 700,000 when I got it and it's got like 734,000 on it now. It was pretty well cared for, I also visited Summit's website but only after I purchased the truck. Like most used, you'll not get service records and that stuff. An oil analysis and a THOROUGH go over is all I did.

700,000 is low miles for me...my Century Class had well over a million when I traded her. I suppose I could have gotten even newer, but I don't want all that pollution control stuff to deal with. I disabled the EGR and all's good.
