1. Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.

TA was the first company I drove for after I got my CDL.

I was on my second load from PA to IA, straight across on I-90, when a snow storm hit. IA closed 90 it was so bad. I called and asked for an extra delivery day because of the weather and road closure and was told to bring the truck back to North Jackson.

I suspect I was supposed to control the weather, but with only 3 or 4 days of trucking experience (after training) I hadn't acquired that skill yet.

Best part was when I found out they put an "Abandoned Equipment" mark on my DAC. How I could abandon equipment in their parking lot is beyond me.

Great bunch of folks there at TA.

On the plus side, the trainer I worked with, Lee Whipple, was a great driver and an excellent teacher. Don't know if he still drives for them or not, but he was out of North Jackson, Ohio anyway, so probably wouldn't be able to train you anyway.

Thanks for the comments Bugsy. Ended up driving for Swift for about 6 mos. and decided that OTR was not for me. Thankfully was able to land a job back my career field of telecommunications. Been there for about a year now.

Gained a lot more respect for professional drivers, esp. OTR. I too had an excellent trainer. John Maroney from Columbia SC. Don't think I would have lasted without his help.

Still keepin up my CDL tho. Worked too hard to get it.Who knows, I might need it one day.

Keep me posted on the happenings over at TA when you can.

    All the best...
