Swifts Driving academy is $3900.00. Beside the classroom, books, behind the wheel instruction, etc., what else is included in the tuition? Do they pay for cdl testing fees, DOT physicals, etc.?
Does Swift pay for your transport to (one of) their academy? Who is responsible for hotel costs? I assume student would pay for food, but are any meal costs included in tuition?
Finally, what was your impression about the quality of Swift's instruction, especially out in the driving yard and on the roads?
Thanks all you Swift driver's.

i talked to a recruiter last week and he said 4400. you pay dmv fees and physical. they provide round trip bus ticket. waiting on him to call me back
-
Well, actually,, unless your state requires you to get a dot physical to obtain your learners permit, Swift will give you one on the 1st day at Millington,, they won't use yours at all(so save your money)
If i'm not mistaken,,it's $3900.00 for the school and $500.00 for the hotel,,you pay for your own groceries while there. Not real sure on the bus tickets as to who pays for them,, although ,Swift pays for them at 1st. -
One more thing, you guys are in for some cramming and jamming there at the Academy,, Say hello to Gary , Dee, and Greg for me. 3 of the best people you will ever meet.
(If your lucky,,you will get them for instructors) -
I just did the academy here in Phoenix and the answers given so far are pretty much how it worked. I commuted though so mine was $3900. My physical was paid for however, might be a local setup because they're headquartered here.

talked to the recruiter again today. 3900 for the class, 500 for the hotel, 2 seperate loans. had to do an online course and call him back and he will set me up with a phyaical in my area, i got to pay for that then get my permit (state does not require physical for permit) and then off to millington.

If your state doesn't require you to have a DOT medical to obtain your CDL permit,, don't waste your time or money,, they won't even look at it in Millington,,they will give you their own DOT physical the 1st day there, along with your DOT drug screen.
I see your from NC,,so am I,,I WASTED my out of pocket money getting my DOT physical before I went to Millington, Tn.Take my advise,, just go somewhere you can check your blood pressure for free,, and if your eye sight is at least 20/40 in both,, you will be ok.
Alot of people came there misinformed by their recruiters,, they had no idea what to expect,, alot were sent home (alot didn't know they had high blood pressure)
Make sure to e-mail or fax a copy of your CDL permit, birth certificate, social security card and any other information at least 2 times to your recruiter.
If you drive,, use the laundry mat up the road,(or hook up with someone who did),avoid the one at the hotel,, $2.50 to wash, between $7.50-$10.00 to dry at the hotel laundry room.
There is a Krogers and China buffet ,1/4 mile away,, Ryans right next to hotel,,Freds and lil Ceasers pizza,, and farther up about 3/4 mile,,there is Wal-Marts for shopping.( you will have a stove, microwave , frig, in a small kitchenette.)
There is a trailer sitting behind the hotel that you can use for your PTI practice.
Take your sheets off your bed ever 2nd day (odd),put on floor or in basket if one is supplied,,NEVER leave anything,,not even a pencil on your bed or they WILL NOT touch it.
You WILL be sleeping with at least 3 other people in your hotel room,so expect that.Last edited: Nov 2, 2010
