Still trying to get more information about Swift's flatbed division from those drivers who are in it (or were). Being that I live in the Akron/Canton, Ohio area would I be "getting the miles" and will Swift route me out West also, which I would like to do.

Already did, and besides the (great) diary report from one driver, have not seen any more information.

That's about the only flat bed thread on here that talks about miles..

Everyone will be different.. Driver X will get 2000plus miles and driver Y will only get 1500plus miles... I comes down to how hard You want to drive and Your DM...

Some dm's are better then others, This is from what I have read on here in different threads. If You start out with flat beds You can move over to van or reefer with out going back to Orientation. That is what I was told from 2 different recruiters.

plan on an average of 2000 paid miles a week. that will cover your miles in between the pay periods, and miles sitting on the weekends.
The big difference with flatbed freight is weekends. THEIR IS NO DROP AND HOOK
Everything is a live load and unload about 95% OF THE TIME, AND NO ONE WORKS WEEKENDS and most people cut off delieveries around 1400.
So if you get ###### one day its a ripple effect and takes a while to get out of.
    For example
Last week i delievered in Iowa on monday morning, early 0630 local. Was empty and sitting in truck stop by 0730 local. I had a pre-plan prior which was pulled off of me as soon as i went empty.
    I messaged planner and DM.
sat till close of business than told to deadhead to Gary to get a coil in the morning.
400 miles, could have been their allready when they sent me preplan.
I get to Gary at 0630. "to get appointment time" since they didnt have it for me when i got the load assignment. just had window of 0700-1400.
got the appoinment.......1400.....past my 14 and to close to get a 10 in.
had to pass up a 1300 mile run for a 700 mile run followed by a 1400 mile run to cover thursday-monday.
The reason i was told why i didn't get a PP ahead of time its cheaper to keep me sitting.
I got stuck with the same load this past weekend now shut down for the night deadheadin over to indiana grabbin a coil and going to laredo.
Only waited 5 hours this time after being empty

    AZS Thanks this.
