I have enrolled in a local community college to get my CDL. It's a certified course. I'm 38 years old with excellent credit and nothing on my MVR. No speeding or accidents etc. I have however received deferred adjudication a class a misdemeanor. (Email Harassment) 1 year probation. Probation is likely to be reduced to 6 months ending at the time I graduate CDL school. I have never been in any other trouble other than this. My understanding is that since I received deferred that after my time served is complete my record will not show a conviction for this charge, it will be dismissed. Will trucking companies turn me down for what I've explained here? I know they won't hire me while on probation but what about after this is all over and deferred shows no conviction of any misdemeanor? Thanks for any input.

Hi and welcome to the forum.
I realize you're anxious and wanting an answer. But you've now posted this question 3 times. Not everyone is able to be online constantly so sometimes a poster has to wait until the right member with the accurate information is able to come on line.
Now, I know some about deferred adjudication but since it's different in various states I hesitate to try and answer your question. See that's because a good answer isn't always a fast answer.
I'm sure you'll get the information. Best wishes to you on your new career and I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. -
sorry just getting used to the site
Texas-Nana Thanks this. -
If you're really anxious about the answer perhaps you could call one of the big companies and ask a recruiter. You don't have to give them your name.

I tried that already and as soon as I told them about the probation they said they don't hire anyone on probation.
Also Texas says Deferred Adjudication is not a conviction. So I think what will show after this is the arrest only.
I think its all gonna work out I just wanted to ask around on here.Texas-Nana Thanks this. -
Be careful about what Texas says and what DOT says. They will more than likely consider it a conviction.I ahd that problem with MD,and got fired because of it.

Even still do you think my misdemeanor over email harassment is a big deal in the trucking industry. I'm just hoping I'm not wasting my money on something I will never get hired for.

I can tell you for sure that the Border Guards will consider it serious. The only reason is all they really see at first MAY be the misdemeanor listed. If it is not listed at all then you shouldn't have any problems at the borders.
Well, no more than the rest of us do from time to time with pissy officers.
Good luck and remember to try to find something wonderful every day you drive. It makes for a much happier time OTR.
