We have 2 Kenworth 2000s and 1 of the slightly older modle (900s? I dunno) But they are pretty nice, modded for training purposes, but please, dont judge a school on the equipment. The instructors are TOP knotch, the road trucks are in good solid condition, and the yard dogs that we use, yeah they are tore up and beat up but all they do all day is teach students like me, how to drive a stick, how to go forward, backward offset, and ally dock, they get banged up beat up and tore up, recently we had someone jacknife the trailer INTO the sleeper...
Swift can afford to do that with a 10-20k truck. This school can not.
I do not begrudge them the equipment. -
If you want I can provide a pic or two of the road trucks.

I got some pics, ill attach them tomarrow, just a short update today, because its more of the same, odds are more of it tomarrow too:
Started with going on the road and my god, it was rough for me today:
Missed a few shifts and for the life of me could not recover.
Pulled onto the highway in FIRST instead of third (from a stop on the side of the road)
Bought nasty coffee.
Argued with my instructor (Never good)
Then with our remaining 4 hours, we worked on alley docking. Out of my 15 or so runs at it, only 4 went in 'close to right' or 'right' the rest were either god awful or simply 'wrong' But then again we are doing it the 'colorado state' way ...and thats retarded.
-
Curious...what did you argue with your instructor about? Seems like they put quite an emphasis on alley docking. I've never had to do it. The coffee? You'll get used to it (unfortunately).

That's what scares me about Truck Driving.......... Bad coffee and no french vanilla creamer! Some things should just always be right! LOL
Anyway Keep it up, sounds like your doing pretty good! -
Oh, yeah, see by nature im a fairly offensive guy. I am fairly opinionated, I dislike being around people as a general rule, and I absolutely hate bad direction/guidance, or being distracted when im concentrating. The final big one? Being interupted.
And while I was coming to a red light (8th gear) I started to cost, was getting ready to drop to sixth and he was like "Slow down, shift..." yadda yadda and I was like "I am, Im costing like bryan said ..." And he cut me off, to say "Bryan didnt say to do that! " And proceeded to #####, had he not cut me off the rest was: "...so I can shift down, and maybe catch the light."
And then he started in on me pretty good, about my shifting, driving, etc, and of course, I got pissed, oddly, when I get pissed, I drive better, So Im making all my shifts and he noticed, and I looked at him and I said "You dont know when to let #### go do you" And oh it just went down hill from there.
Anyway ill try to take the pics off my phone today, and awnser any other questions
-
Although real hard to do, just ignore the guy. There's always one "expert" in every class. Is there another group you can go driving with instead of with this guy? The longer you're in this business, the thicker your skin will get. Stuff like that doesn't amount to a hill of beans.
Keep up the good work and thanks for the update! -
No, he is my instructor.
Really I think I will be ok, test is on friday, I pass, I have my CDL and go to orentation for swift on the 8th or 15th im not sure yet.
When I start working with swift, I'll probably be making a new thread with "Swift from day one" type thing, Updated daily, or on days I cant, updating 2 or 3 days at a time ya know?
