Sounding good. Decent pay, good miles, and nice equipment. Sounds like a good setup.
Do you know where they run? All 48? Midwest? Do you know where they hire from? -
For example instead of being bussed/van'd from terminal to motel and back for orientation they ask who's driving and toss you the keys.
Ever think that for liability purposes many carriers do not TOSS you the keys to transport yourself and others as until you are finished orientation and OFFICIALLY hired your not an EMPLOYEE. -

All done with orientation. Got my truck assignment but it won't be ready till tomorrow afternoon. My Dispatcher said he'll either have me a load to Illinois or an overnight to Reno depending on when it's ready. Oh yeah, I'm getting a '09 Cascadia with a manual trans, Graphite paint. No hazmat, they pay very accurate practical miles, and they prefer to route around(paying you the extra miles for it) toll roads was all new stuff I learned today. They insist on 100% legal logs and as long as you communicate about what hours you have as soon as you get preplanned it sounds like they work with you and do a lot of turns to make it work legal. $500 buck recruitment bonus so looks like I'm going to raid Big Red a little.
KH, solo, I can barely put up with myself let alone someone else in the truck. The Challenger Thanks this. -
Anyway, they don't hire out of North Cackalacky unfortunately. Sucks, I would love to have run with them. An 09 Cascadia is big enough to be comfy living in for a month at a time. -
On a personal note, I passed my DOT exam just fine and got a 1 year. It was a real struggle to get the sleep center to fax over my sleep study info though, so a word of advice to anyone going to any company for orientation. Get a complete copy of your file from your sleep center if you have had a study done.
Did I miss something?I have never had to do a sleep study for a driving job...
