seriously!!! For anyone that (for whatever reason) hasn't done this.. get a few of them lil alcohol pads and wipe down that wheel ur hangin on to! when i first started out (class B Coach 1996) an old timer showed me the pads after he wiped a wheel down... pitch dark with filth.

never reaally thought of it til i seen it and it makes sense.. these fellas and gals are turnin that wheel all day long.. and ya know dang well them fingers are makin it into all sorts of funky spots.. BBQ ribs.. all sorts of greasy sammiches.. noses.. mouths... fuel.. oil.. and all sorts of unsavory unmentionable areas and not necessarily in any order as listed.. ugh. (u will need about 10-15 of them lil pads.. or just get a bottle of rubbin alcohol n paper towels for your gear bag. ;)

Yep,After the Lysol i spray the steering wheel down with the foaming window cleaner and wipe it down.
    It is always filthy...yuck!

The Lysol spray helps the smoke odor and the funky seat odor too...

The funky seat odor... when you slip seat you got to wonder... was the chili dawg spilled before or after it was eaten?:biggrin_2556:

If he just left his gear in the truck without any other problems I think I'd just leave the stuff with the office with a note. But if he trashed the truck then that's a different story. I'd still leave him a note but with instructions on what you expect and if you see it again then you and him will have a talk with the safety manager. I don't know maybe I'd just junk the stuff down the road if it was bad enough!!!! But then the problem wouldn't stop. I guess you should try to handle the situation through the company.

We always have three or four extra trucks in the yard as spares. Last time mine went in for a transmission problem I took the one that nobody wants to drive, a 2000 Freightliner Argosy. Only had 445,000 miles on it. It was beat to death on the inside but it ran good and it was road legal. The shop foreman, who is one of the companies owners, said "The only reason we keep plates and insurance on it is for picking up loads in some of these tighter places" It was the only one he had left to use and I wanted to work so off to Baltimore with a double drop and a generator I went. We actually have drivers who would rather sit home and not work then use one of the spare trucks. That boggles my mind.

If you want to kill any odor, get a can of something called 'Ozium.' It was designed for use in mortuaries and can be found in most auto parts stores. It smells like crpa at first, but it will kill ANYTHING you can smell...

Did local milk tanker for a few months a few years ago. Had to slip seat everytime you got back to the processing plant. I'm 6'5" so hitting my knee on the dash several times a day because I forgot to move the seat back before I jump in got old fast. That job was too much like real work.
