there is a possibility that the trainer will also want to be home for holidays. you might get a trainer that lives in same general area you do and be home for holiday then roll again. when I first came out i sacrificed my first thanksgiving and Christmas to get my training done and get my own truck. Had Thanksgiving Diner at the Petro's Iron Skillet, Trainer bought me dinner. I self sacrificed my holidays for the greater good. Money to be able to support my family. Everyone is different. But I do understand what you are going thru.

Some people are also just STRANGE!! people actually drive Fords still? #### they must really be missing the boat. I have 02 Monte Carlo SS Just under Earnhardt edition. (I did have it built/special ordered like the Earnhardt edition.) 79 Camaro Z28 and 79 Pontiac Trans Am(not sure why, but I had to have one of them also, lol) and 86 Chevy K5 Full size Blazer.

Some things I was taught about winter driving. 1. SLOW DOWN!!! 2. an easy way to check to see if it is just wet or freezing is watch the water droplets on the top corners of your windshields and on your mirrors, If the water drops are dancing it is still above freezing, when they stop moving, you better be slowly easing off the accelerator, as you are now probably on black ice, or ice in general. Do not make rash sudden movements, ease the truck to next lane if passing or turning, don't jerk the wheel. You can get the defroster to defrost entire windshield if you flip down your sun visors to allow heat to stay in tops of windows. while you have your defroster going on max, crack the windows about 1/2 inch so you down burn up or get drowsy. Winter in general makes your bodies clock off, cause it is dark sooner . Try not to stare at the snow coming at you, as you will become mentally fatigued fast. When checking to find out if you can really expect ice or water find out what the temps were in area for last couple days, average temps together and divide by the number of days you just got. this is your average ground temp. with that maybe you have just wet roads or to expect frozen roads from the slush or salt water depending on the state your in. try to find out what they treat roads with, some states like Wyoming use sand. Idaho uses small pebbles to dig into the ice. Ohio loves salt and the Accubrine, and Clearlane solutions. Mostly use common sense. Also if it is to bad to move get on Qualcomm and communicate that it is Unsafe to move. But you Must communicate, so you don't get charged with Service Failure, and Customer service can see about changing appointment time/date.

i see the signs in the slc center about not driving on ice and alot of safety posters and wonder does the driver managers feel the same way? if you call in and say its getting bad or is bad on the road are they going to give you a hard time or just say fine and then your miles go down because your labeled a cry baby. please post some actual times when you were calling in no go and what haapened.. thanks..

I always had to keep going, but only 1 or 2 times was it really really bad.
Out west when it gets too bad they have chains needed, or in high wind areas they will shut down the interstate.
These are easy. Central really does not want you to hang chains unless it is to get from the road to a safe place to park.
And they will not want you running on a closed interstate.
In regular snow storms it really depends on the load and your dispatcher.
If you are not comfortable and worried then maybe you should stop.
I live in the snow belt off of Lake Erie.
I drive in ALLOT of snow. I really do not like to drive in snow. I will when needed, but if conditions get too bad I stop.
I will not be that guy in the ditch if I can help it. I drive slow and always leave allot of room in front of me.

I will do some searching for free tests. I cannot remember the company, but one company site had really good ones for all the tests and hazmat.
    They were good practice tests.
Check search cristcdl for tests. They have several for all the tests.

That is a really good question. As far as Safety is concerned they want you safe. Now if you have a DM on the phone and they are telling you to run even though you feel unsafe tell them to write it in a Qualcomm message. That is the only thing that will save you every time. Those messages are saved in a big data base. If Safety saw that message the DM would be gone. I of course cant really speak from experience however that is the thing that will save you butt in the long run.

    Good Luck!!!

You will never feel 100% safe driving in the snow and ice.
At times you will have to do it though, it is just part of the job. So you need to learn how to do it in a safe manner.
That being said there is a time to stop.

Good looking out CD I was not told anything yet, so thank you. Maybe I should have read the rules again...

For those that saw it I will say as I have said before I am not affiliated with it, I get nothing in any way from it other than helping someone out with a product that I have used. Only two test's on that site are pay that was the Hazmat and the Bus one...

I was trying not to use a link. They do not like that here. LOL.
Several are around though. Just have to look for them and look past the pay sites.
