Yeah... no ####... $1100... for a freakin box? If nothing else, fiberglass works real good for that kinda stuff.
Use a wire wheel to remove any rust. Cut a piece of glass (or an old cotton sheet) a little bigger than the hole. Pour out about a 1/4 cup of resin into a container, add 5 drops of hardener and use a cheap paint brush to paint some on the area around the hole. It's gonna harden real quick, so be real fast with applying the fabric or glass over the hole--stick it down to the resin you painted on.
Once it's stuck on pretty good and doesn't want to peel off, mix up 1 cup of resin and add about 10 drops of hardener. Paint it on over the glass matting until it just soaks through, then stick another layer over it... repeat... until you've got about three layers. Put one layer on the inside, overlapping the edges. This way, even if the resin separates from the metal, the overlap will hold it in place.
More work on the W900...at the dealer again

and maybe hit up some local junk yards to see if they have the parts or can get them it might save little more on the parts. i bought my wife's headlight for $89 where dealer wanted $283, i know its for the car but i know there are truck junk yards too

If you could make one of the ebay ones work, I'd strip the paint and have it powdercoated.

The dealer is fixing it. 5hrs of labor and the rest of the $1100 is for parts. So it's almost a 50/50 split. The one I saw on ebay started at $750, so that wasn't much of a deal. Most of the parts arrived but one needs to come from ATL, so it will be mid next week by the time it's done....I was like.. "Whatever..."

I've been running my ESPAR everyday since my heater core is a little leaky... I have to pull the cover to see if the core is copper... my rad hop can fix it. If it's aluminum it needs a new core and i don't want to spend the $$$ right now.
The ESPAR does a good job of keeping up until the temps hit single digits.... -
Turns out I now need a new EVAP core and an expansion valve. Well toss another $400 on this job...

I agree with an earlier poster. Time to find a private shop. Everytime I've been screwed, it was by a dealer and every time I've been to a dealer....well, I got screwed.
I was able to find a shop with a labor rate that's less than half of the dealer. The kicker is they do far better work. I would bet every area has a shop that'll beat those big dealers both with the cost and with the workmanship.
You sure do have a cool truck. I know they can be expensive and a headache, but man it's gotta be nice to cruise that ride around!Hanadarko Thanks this. -
Yea I know....the only good thing is I got a great service manager and dedicated 2nd shift crew that work on my rig. They do top notch work..
Of course they charge top price ($113/hr) and do every dam thing by the FLAT RATE HOUR book. At least Petro charges by the 1/2hr...of course there, you get what you pay for...

Not me! I drive a 5 year old, day cab, single axle, POS Freightliner that isn't worth the gunpowder needed to blow it up!!!
