The don't ask and I won't tell approach doesn't work if you ever have a major accident.
Go read all 109 pages of the NTSB accident report on Donald Creed's 10 fatality accident in Miami, OK to see how deep they dig.

Doesn't the AD stand for Attention Deficet?
Truck driving requires 100% attention. Anything less causes wrecks. -
It's a mislabeling. All it means is that you can't focus exclusively on one thing for hours and hours at a time. The way they test for it by making you focus on something exciting like paint drying. If you show the slightest hint of boredom, or in fact move at all, or in any way act like a normal human being, they label you with this supposed disorder and sell you a lifetime worth of bottled happiness.
People who can't stand staring at a point on the wall, or a computer screen with boring charts on it all day, fit into driving pretty well. You don't stare at the road ahead when driving a truck. You're looking ahead, behind, to the sides, at the gauges, the countryside, directions, signs, all kinds of things call for your divided attention. If you can't process all that at once, you really can't drive a truck at all.
People who sit in a quiet office staring at the clock, occasionally making up new rules (or new tests for some new disorder they just invented) don't get it. -

- Yes, he can... I'd suggest a few things first for you how does he drive a car? Driving record and such... if it's really good, second have him drive with a trailer, if still ok, then try asking other friends or family to take him with them, to see if he wants to further his interest... I have it yes, been a truck driver for 12 out of the last 16y ... 3 recent between 3 companies... he has to strengthen his focussing ability, he plays video games very well, I know I have that problem too, lol job hoping is as problem also, but if he's the guy who thinks of safety first, then maybe... doc's might not agree, but they like living with mights and maybes...
