The Ontario Government has decided to ban CB radio use in the next couple of years. We already have a law on the books that says you cannot use any mobile communication device in a vehicle unless it is hands free. The CB ban will be piggy backed onto the existing law. It will come in without most drivers even knowing it exists.
Drivers please be aware of what Government does, once other jurisdictions see how the ban is implemented and enforced in Ontario they too will also move to enact a ban on radios and out of state/provincial drivers will be the primary targets.
CB'S to be banned in Ontario,Canada.

Too bad you guys gave up your guns. Won't be too much longer and they'll open up a branch office of Auschwitz, Inc.
Enjoy. -
sorry cant see it working out for commercial vehicles---will the ban encompass fire trucks-and law enforcement as well?--or military vehicles
-
What else would you expect from a country that has a national speed limit of 55mph (uh make that 88 km) for commercial vehicles.
-
National speed limit of 55?
Where? The EU maybe...not Canada.
The CB law will kick in in 2-3 years. By them, I expect there to be more manufacturers coming out with blue-tooth units for head set mics. If necessary, as is done in aviation, there could be a small wireless mic button on the wheel.
Fpor now, be greatful that hands-free coms are still allowed. There are studies that show it's the CONVERSATION thgat distracts, as much as the hand-held device.
My personal opinion, is that professional drivers should be able to get one or two day certification "training" - the same (lol) that I will assume cops get, that would allow them to use any device. A large green sticker etc would indicate this to law enforcement. -
You're right. I say they start making ALL vehicles with one seat, no radio and windows that don't roll down.
Wait... that would waste too much gas and cause our atmosphere to become all carbonated and bubbly. Better stick with pedal cars.
Scarecrow03 Thanks this. -

A Canadian I ran with recently said nationwide 55 up there. I've never been there.

Even though truckers have safely and effectively used CBs for decades, the 4-wheelers who legislate laws have deemed themselves unable to negociate a steering wheel with one hand, and a hand held device with the other. Since the 4-wheeler law making public have deemed themselves uncapabale of this trivial skill, they must also ban any similar device from trucks. All laws are watered down to the level of the lowest skilled driver making laws.
I'm surprised ontario beat the caliphornia commie to this.lilillill Thanks this. -
In Ontario they have speed limiter at 62 mph.
In the other provinces the speed limit is 110 kilometers per hour and there are many trucks that do it.
By the way, it is about 68 mph.
