Add me to the list of guys who use them. Made a huge difference in tire wear on the steers for me. My truck is really light on the steers and I keep up on the front end alignment and maintenance, so I get a lot of wear out of a good set of steer tires. I added the Centramatics because I just wasn't able to keep weights on and balanced.
A shop also told me Centramatics wouldn't work. They also charge 55.00 to take A (ONE) tire off, balance it, and remount it. They recommend doing this four times per year.
Another shop told me that there's more weight in a centramatic than what they can put on a tire successfully, so they HAVE to work.
I don't know which one was right, but I know that my truck rode and drove better INSTANTLY and I get a hella lot more miles out of my steers now. Those $185 Centramatics have paid for themselves many times over. -
I understand how we can disagree on any subject. But when a person does'nt give an explanation of a good or bad experiance to base there reasoning on,they loose credability.I have run centramatics for over 2 million miles with great success.I get about 165 easy on firestone 590's,with 6 32nds left and they wear smooth on a W9.

I always had my front tires balanced while ON THE TRUCK. Only one shop in this city of a million people have an "on truck balancer". I swear by it. When balancing on truck you balance ALL components of the wheel assembly.

OK, so the general consensus is i DO NOT have to have my tires balanced first before running centramatics/or balance masters and it should work fine?

You gotta be kidding!
Tires don't move on the rim except in extreme circumstances
They may flex by thousandths of an inch at the bead but they ain't moving once they seat and the lube dries.
Just mark your tire and rim and see for yourself.
If y'all buy top of the line tires, do your own mounting and take your time and clean and properly lube everything you will barely even need any weights at all.
I consistently need no weights on my one steer and 1/2 oz. at the same spot on the other steer rim when I mount new BFG ST244 steer tires.
This is what happens when you use perfect tires and mount them perfectly. Well, as close to perfect as is practical to measure.
Centramatics do help reduce the effects of a shoddy mount job or an out of round/balance tire but you should have them spin balanced first.
I have a pair of Centras in my shed. I don't need them since I do my own tire work.

centramatics balance up to 8oz if i remember right. if a tire is out.of balance by more then that i dont want it on my truck.
i started out balancing with the centramatics then after a road repair i realized it was just as smooth as it was with balancing so i stopped balancing new tires.
mark me up as a love em guy. now im just kicking myself for not having the time to remove them from my old truck when i upgraded -
i will buy them from you semi crazy if theyre for 22.5's

If you have tires that pick up gravel, like these frikken yoko's I have, centramatics are good to counter effects of that.
