Stay away from SYGMA

what all stores do ya deliver out of colorado?

 

So I've got a little more time in now, and my body is adjusting to the night work which was my biggest issue. May stay longer then originally expected if things stay the same.


Right now we have Wendy's, Firehouse subs, Red Lobster, Arby's, Schlotszy's, Texas Roadhouse, Panda Express, Olive Garden, several other not huge chain stores also.

I'm sure I'm missing something as I'm new but those are the ones I'm sure of.

We do a ton of Wendy's though....

Gotta say the Denver branch is full of a ton of good people. The work is hard but it's doable if you let your body adjust and the pay is very very good. We're looking for 20 more drivers right now because we picked up Red Robin which will start in about a month. We're also on the hunt for a larger facility to hold our growth.

 

Now I don't know anything about this company. But I can give you some very good reasons for the route change. It is a matter of security and controls. It is too easy for a driver to get involved in some type of conspiracy with a receiver. In other words, it is a way to guard against employee theft.

OK, I can't speak to the pay difference. That does sound like it sucks. But face it, just about any LTL is HARD WORK.

And this goes right back to my response from your first post. And only having 8 weeks does not give either you or the company a chance to really see what it is all about. Six months to a year, maybe. But 8 weeks?

Now that is also hard work! Was this boxed, or swinging meat?

So you really don't have a basis for what they are like now, do you?

Are we seeing a pattern here?

Again, it is work. HARD WORK. But the drivers that I have talked with who do it, are satisfied with the money.

Let's face it, just about ALL trucking is hard work in one way or another. It just depends on whether you are cut out for it or not. And if you are not, it is nothing against you. Everyone is different.

Always go with your "gut feelings." Yeah, you might be wrong, but likely you will be right. And if you go against those feelings, then when things don't work out, you will REALLY be kicking yourself!

Give it time milo! Working nights has some very good things associated with it. You have less traffic to mess with, you have fewer people looking over your shoulder, and if you get your life style situated, it really can be pleasant. But you pretty much need to change your life around to accommodate your work schedule. If you try to work all night during your work week, then play all day during your weekends, it is very hard on the body.

If I wasn't so young and already used to hard work, I wouldn't make it. The switching to nights is what really spun my body I'm thinking. I have no abnormal muscles aches or anything that you normally hear from people getting on with Sygma, but I've experienced horrible mental lag.

The mind doesn't like to be deprived of sleep ( =

But ya I'ma stick with it and rake in some BIG bucks and jump up the seniority list real quick

 

the reason they change routes is because summer routes are generally heavier (less stops per truck) than winter routes.

 

I been with Sysco 13 years and never regret it. I make great money and do not have a boss breathing down my neck. We had quota's but do your job and you're never bothered. I hate the fact Sysco closed our Columbus location but whatcha gonna do. I hear Sygma is for guys who wanna run the road. If your a trucker who has never lifted a case this IS NOT for you. The Union is for slackers, crybaby sour puss babies!!

 

You're the one that sounds like a "sourpuss".

Those union "crybabies" are making $20+ an hour.

 

I worked for SYGMA briefly when I got my cdl in 06. I worked out of the Columbus Terminal.

Things I liked about SYGMA were:

1 - The equipment. It was always maintained and in good shape.
2 - Office personel were always nice and seemed to like helping people.
3 - Training for the job was very good.

Things I didn't like:

1 - Driving back to the terminal after being dead tired from humping freight all night.
2 - The whole "extra board" set up was a joke.
3 - Some of the other drivers weren't very friendly.

To sum up, I didn't care for my time at SYGMA. I guess it just wasn't for me. If you are the type of person that thrives on HARD ### WORK, then you may fair better. Good luck!

 

$20 an hour to be underworked compared to the rest of the industry. And they still demand more.

Unions are a plague on this nation

 

The drivers i talked to out of Charlotte made good money if your afraid of changing routes. Buy you a garmin. What does it matter if you change routes ever six months long as your working. Money is money
