After six months of driving for Maverick and no prior experience, I am making .41 a mile plus tarp pay. Last week 2700 #.41=$1,107 plus tarp
This week 2500 #.41=$1,025 plus tarp pay.
You can make a living...you just have to choose the right company!

No worries. I've come to respect you through your posts and wanted to make sure I'm not pissing off the locals, lol! As for the type of trailer... I guess I've just been looking at info that I feel applies to me and forget that others' assumptions are not the same as mine.

One of our company drivers who used to pull dedicated for Werner told me that he used to work harder unloading those trucks then he does chaining and tarping flatbed loads.

I went to school with several Maverick students and they were starting them at $.27/cpm. Unless they've had a new driver pay increase, I find that very hard to believe, regardless if it's from their site.

Hey Scrumdog just wanted to also say that I wasn't inferring "you" as a liar, but the recruiter that tries to get you new drivers suckered in to orientation! Some of the stuff I hear the newbies say that the recruiters tell them is so far out there its ridiculous! One of my biggest hangups is pay, and home time. These recruiters tell you guys "one day off for every week that you are out" well there is a girl on this forum who thinks she will actually be home every week for one day! Another one is regional driving. They have the new drivers thinking that this is not over the road. They also tell them they will be home every weekend. I and many other drivers have been that route! You come home on Sunday morning and are back out by Sunday evening! That's home every weekend! That's also a stretch. You start off with that and then your dispatcher slowly works you into out two weeks, then out three weeks. So now what? Do you tell them you are going to quit. They know half of you will stay no matter what and half of you will quit. Well, that is why they have to run ads and lie to new drivers to get them to work for them. Vicious circle, huh? The schools are just as bad if not worse, because they are the one's responsible for getting you into this whole predicament in the first place! They are the original liars. I won't even get into that whole scene. I tend to ramble. Now I know this sounds like I am bashing mega-carriers or being negative but in the whole scheme of things I personally love trucking! With that being said I am also experienced enough to know who is going to try to take advantage of me and where to go for the greatest chances of success. I really have no feelings either way toward the big companies are hold ill will against them. I know it is not in my best interest to even mess with them. I have been there and got the T'shirt (and bad dac!) What does chap me is you guys are down on your luck, lost your jobs or whatever, and need to provide for your families. You fork over or extend yourselves beyond your means to pay the $6000 for school without really knowing what lies ahead! These recruiters for the schools and mega-carriers really use their smoke and mirrors to get you guys to jump in. I just really think that it is not to fair and I try to explain it to you guys here on the forum. I realize that they are much better (and are getting paid) at convincing you guys then I am. Hopefully though some of the stuff I post will at the very least put some question in your mind and help you prepare for when you are presented with the crap! I really think that there should be regulation as to what they can and can't say to get you guys to go with them.
Anyways man, thanks for the compliments and sorry for the long post. If you need anything feel free to ask or pm me. Good luck out there!

Yeah, I guess one thing that is never set in stone is home time. From what I can tell, BF is pretty on the ball with that. I really don't expect too much my first year out. Right now we're just paying things off as fast as we can so little home time will help accomplish that anyway.

There was a pay increase. I am at .41 after 6 months. -
Well......I consider myself lucky. I did do well in school. I had trailer exp with my old work for years everyday. I also have a 33 ft camper. I got hired on with a company. We do east coast maine to fla and NYC. I was hired on at .33 a mile. I just finsihed my 2nd week solo. Had to go into Brooklyn as well. All in All with my NY pay and my pay for each stop this last week came out to .42 a mile. Now, will it be like that all the time NO. I am the Low man at the company. I am getting the loads noone else wants. That's ok, I figure it's good training. Brooklyn, Queens, Long Island City are Very Tough Though!!!
