I went through all that work running hard friday and saturday, so that I could get as close as possible to my first stop and do a 34 hour reset. My reset ended at 5AM this morning and at 5:15AM I was rolling.....Got to my first stop unloaded by 9:45AM, called my next stop.....no answer, so I just start driving there. Finnally about a half our later someone finnally answers the phone and I ask if I can deliver today instead of 7AM tomorrow....he says "well I'm here all by myself today but I'll call my part time guy and see if he wants to come in"

about 30 minutes later he calls me back and says "his partime guy is out of town, so I can'r deliver until tomorrow :biggrin_2557:.

So now I get to sit here for 18 more hours :biggrin_2559:. I sure hope I can pick things up here a bit. Doesn't seem like im getting anywhere fast this week lol

    #### is that how these work? they have been nice with all my furniture loads and given me one stop regular loads with them, or just terminal to terminal. i had a 3 stop once but when i got to billings they just gave my trailer to someone else to do.

where will it say the date for delivery, down in the corner with the driver instructions? i got times ie 10-6, for 5/6 of my drops but no dates so i just hauled ### down here and didnt bother to call any of them yet to find out haha. i was just going to show up at the first one at 8 tomorrow and start going from there.

yea thats how it works, they give you there receiving hours and what day you need to be there, somtimes you dont even get there hours you have to call to find out. If it has an actuall appt time it will be highlighted on the paper.

The best way I have found is to get to your first stop 15 min before they start to receive that way you can find the place, open the doors, unstrap the load, back in and get there paper work out by the time they get there. Then after that hit those stops as fast as you can, start the next days stops if you can.

Thats how I do it anyway, Oh and I also use my GPS before I even start and figure out the miles and time from one stop to the next and write it down on the summery sheet, that way I can tell you exactly how many stops I'll be able to get off for the day and at what times....

so I was sitting here "enjoying" yet another long wait at a TS and I got another phone call from helena, MT wanting to know when I'll be empty tomorrow.....So I tell him.

Then he tells me he's already got a load for me, 8 stops to PICKUP not deliver I get to go all over MN, WI, IL, all of which tomorrow and then after that i'm going to "swing through" the Indianpolis, IN Terminal. Then this is where I'm confused he says "then we'll send you back to conover". So I'm guessing I'm going to pickup all this broken furniture and make a "pit stop" in IN then bring it to conover, NC........I just finally got off the east coast and now there sending me back haha :biggrin_2559: ahh I guess thats when that old saying "Thats Trucking" comes into play lol

I wounder how this is going to work for the stops......are these furniture stops? how much if anything do I put on the trip envolopes for each one?

heres the funny part, my 2nd stop tomorrow is it the place I'm UNLOADING in the morning :biggrin_2559:. So ya thats going to be my 1st "stop" they can take their 77 pieces off and then put 1 back on lol

Hopefully this load will go smoothly, I gotta look up all these places in my map, just looking at the stops it doesn't look like I can do all this in one day, but who know maybe there all right next to each other haha

And I guess the "silver Lineing" for this load will be I'll get to meet Walstib while im in conover.

and as if this post isn't long enough I'll throw one more thing in :biggrin_255: I got some bad news today, one more of the guys from my Orientation class quit, thats 2 down so far, that I know of.

I'd call night dispatch and find out...then either way I'd see if i could start dropping stuff. I've found that customers at least with the furniture are more then happy to get there stuff early.

If you haul furniture long enough, you will end up doing pickups for damaged furniture. You are based out of Conover, and live close to there. They will keep you close to home most of the time to do furniture, as most OTR drivers do not want to deal with it.

I did new furniture for many years, and have the bad back to prove it. In fact, I pulled out of the Conover terminal some back when it was W&L Motor Lines, one of the premiere furniture haulers in the area.

PS, Mom and Pop places will take you most any time they are there. You may have to take it inside yourself sometimes, but you can get it done.

I know I live near there but I don't want to be home thats why I'm an OTR driver NOT a regional driver I had the option...

That actully my biggest and really only complaint about the furniture is that everything is bigger and heavyer then I am not hard to do at 112lbs :biggrin_2559:. But if I can ever get a #### dolly to move this stuff with it wont be nearly as bad.

Whats gets me with this run is, I'm gonna be going at least 1000miles right? with 8 PIECES of furniture haha. Thats why I'm not sure if i'm understanding it right that seems like allot of money to move 8 pieces of broken furniture.....

You will probably put it in the nose and load behind it. or put it on the rear.

This is by far the best hand truck for furniture:

If you have to get the regular type, be sure to get solid tires. Theres nothing like trying to roll a china hutch with air type tires. If you don't drop it, you will be wallowed all over the trailer. If you ever get the chance to use the type above, you will not believe how much better it is.
