Chopper did you tell them that non-diabetic people's serum blood glucose levels at between 80-100.. Diabetics should be between 90-110.. You being in the 90's in the morning is a good thing. I am a bit concerned that that waiver says you need to be above 100.
I'll be happy to give any number of sources for this information..

Celtic, I am so sorry to hear you are having issues finding a job. My husband was told by his former employer that as far as they were concerned as long as you could pass the DOT physical you could be hired. He worked for Transport Service, he is working on the dock as of now for UPS Freight and they have told him they will offer him a job if everything pans out. Have you never driven before? It says you are a student on your profile.
Maybe that is why you are having a hard time getting work. Did your waiver come certified mail? The DOT told my husband he should know in thirty days. He started working on this in August and has had to send additional info in.How long did it take you to get it approved? After they approve you, then do they have to post it in the Federal Register? I am not understanding all of this process. It is ridiculous to make people wait so long. Husband says if they don't approve him this time, he is going to talk to Dr. about Victoza, something we read about and his sister is on. It is an injectible but not considered insulin. Byetta is another option. Good luck and let me know how all of this works out. -
It's not me that having an issue
I have a job just as soon as I get my CDL. My diabetes is well under control without insulin and I don't need a waiver.
I was commenting on another post.. -
When you talk numbers, are you talking averages from your glucose reader?
Mine spikes all the time depending on what time I test. I average around 140 with some readings around 90 but a whole bunch in the high 200's. -
Averages should be what your A1C value is.
200 is way too high Condo, and 140 is sort of high. You seriously need to get all your readings below 125 at best.
As it was told before you should take your reading before each meal to determine what you can eat and 2 hours after to make sure your serum level has dropped below 125.
Don't exercise with-in 30 minutes of eating, unless it can't be helped. Loading and unloading a truck IS exercise.. -
My husbands Endo told him that he would like to see his readings from 160 - 200. That was surprising to us. He says that way there are not severe lows. Sorry about posting to the wrong person celtic.

Find a new Endo.. Those readings will push the A1C well above 7% -
Celtic,
I once read an article that the DOT wants a drivers A1C to be as high as a 10. We thought that was very high too. But the article said that this way you don't have any really low readings. An Endo we saw last year wouldn't even consider taking my husband as a patient because of this. She said that the DOT did not go along with her standards. So evidently the Endo we have is on the right track.Go figure. I think the DOT and Endo's all need to get together on this. Thanks -
My husbands name and application for the exemption was just posted in the Federal Register. They are asking for comments by 12/15. Does this mean he is on his way to getting approved?
