I have a 06 9400 c-13. Besides a regular pm and oil changes. What else i should be doing? Like when should i balance tires, change air filters.. I do visually check air filter and tires are properly inflated. I do get a pm and oil change every 12k mi. I bought my truck with 458k, now i have 488k miles on it. Just trying to get some ideas ...

I would invest in Centramatics, no more balancing tires. I rotate my drives every 30K, change my air filters 2 times a year, pull the A/C condenser, air/air and clean out the radiator once a year, usually in april or may before it gets hot again. Take the dash apart and blow out the heater and a/c evap. at the same time. Dont forget the ones in the bunk. You might be able to get by only 1 time a year on the air filters, but I run a hopper so dust is an issue. I dont know if your regular PM includes oil samples, but its well worth the $30 per oil change. Grease is cheaper than king pins, so a lube every week is well worth the 30-45 minutes it takes to do it.

Centramatics!!!!
Air dryer cartridge maybe once a year.
Air filter maybe once a year.
Flush coolant maybe once a year.
Change cabin air filters every couple months or so. (there should be 2 of those)
Water filter (if equipped) once a year.
watch charge air cooler hoses & change as needed
recharge AC once a year -
Thanks for the info...

WoW! I change airfilters every other oil change sometimes earlier depending on road conditions. -
Centramatics are great, never need to balance wheels again.
Look at your service book, it will tell you everything that you need to know about maintaining your vehicle.
Oil changes and fuel filters are the most important when it comes to servecing.
Check you tire pressures with a gauge at least once a week. -
if you are on the highway---there would be no need to change air filter more than once a year
it would be wiser to put an actual restriction gauge in the truck and monitor the filter than change it that often
the more often you open the filter cannister --the higher the chance that you are actually getting contaminents into the air system -
IMO if the air restriction gauge has moved, you're way overdue for a filter change. I run a road truck, and I certainly don't swap air filter every other oil change. That's a bit excessive imo, more like 2 or 3 times a year.
I always carry at least one spare set of fuel filters with me. One cold night in WY or MN at -20F and youll never be with a spare set of fuel filters ever again.
I use Donaldson filters when ever I can... -
I agree with all above, but I will add that i change my POWER STEERING filter once a year. I have ask a lot of drivers about theirs and they have NO clue that there is one.

thats why you should use an actual gauge, not the little welfare one that flips to red from yellow
we almost always just change on a yearly date--and most of the time they are still good---but it depends on your operating conditions as well
