So your dumping all this money into a truck that your not even working yet? I guess if its paid for its no big deal.

Have you ever ran your own truck before?

Yea, the rig is paid for. Much of the work I have been doing is to make it reliable. I prefer to fix things before they breakdown. I am sure many guys would have just got this rig and ran it and there isn't anything wrong with that. I am just about done. I had planned on taking the entire summer to fix/restore the rig and it took a bit longer than I had expected.

I was a company driver in the early 90s. Left trucking to pursue other interests but it never left me. I'm getting back into it, but on my own terms this time - so to speak. No loan = no dam monthly bill if she sits...

    I got time...

If you're getting work done, they might be willing to tow it up there for a negligible price(or free), especially if you'll let them pick it up when they get a chance, after, say, dropping a truck off at KW. I have no idea if these guys are worth anything, but it doesn't seem like you could do much worse. Anyway, just an example of what you can find on NTTS or truckdown.

hanadarko, I've followed alot of your posts on that truck and I see ya working to get it into top notch shape before putting it on the road. Yeah, it is costing some bucks while it isnt generating a dime, but just wanted to give you some encouragement on the way you're slowy sliding into the O/O game. When you hit the road with it, you should be set with a reliable ride that's paid for. This will, or should, put you in a position to succeed. Trust me, it's sweet having a rig paid for that you can run how you like and as you wish, instead of having to be at the mercy of a truck payment or running a truck that will let you down on the side of the road. You almost cant fail. Good luck bro.

    Hanadarko and josh.c Thank this.

Dude, I think you've already paid KW more money than I made last year. Just hire me as your personal mechanic... I'm meticulous and I'll give you back your truck spotless. :biggrin_2559:

Yea, well I won't be disclosing expenses...but I am sure I have spent more than some guys make in a "bad" year, there is no denying that....
    :biggrin_25513:

I would have gladly given money to a guy I know locally, or even a friend to help me on some of the stuff I did. Problem is I have NO ONE around here that either wants to help or knows how to help..so I am left to do it on my own, if I can - or it's off to the stealership...

JD...Get ahold of me...I use a good shop 30 miles north of Portage and they charge 40 bucks an hour...Also Lets talk about running under my authority for a bit to get you on the road...I have a good plan to make you some $$$ and can get your truck lettered for about 50 bucks while you are at it...I have been averaging 1.62-1.65 a mile on about 25-3000 miles a week...

Not in any way trying to beat up on you, but after reading the first post of yours that I quoted, I remember thinking that he's lucky to have found a great place to have repairs done, even if it is pricey.

After reading your second post that I quoted, two possibilities come to mind:
    (1) Your "dedicated" wrenches didn't perform the work.
    (2) They have begun to take you for granted; a "cash cow".

No matter what, the greasy, damaged condition you got your truck returned to you is totally unacceptable. I haul to a lot of timber mills; mud, wood chip dust, etc., is the norm; factor in my piggish nature, and you have a truck interior that would make most drivers retch. I usually have to clean my truck before shop time. Getting my pig pen back in the condition you describe would have had me ballistic.
May be time to find another shop......Good Luck.

Actually this has come to mind. 1st shift got slow last time and they ended up working on my rig. That pi$$ed me off, since i explicitly said ONLY the crew on 2nd shift. When my SM found out, he apologized and told me the 1st shift crew sorta STOLE the rig from his guys, to keep the 1st shift guys busy. Hmm.
Turns out though, that one of the best brake guys DID do the work on my rig (for that part of the RO) and did a perfect job. So I wasnt too upset about that.

I would love to share some of the communications I have had with the dealer over the last 2 weeks, but my SM is trying hard to fix things and while they do offer for me to return it back for fixing/cleaning...sometimes ya just want to do it yourself and save the time and hassle.

I guess I can share with you guys my last KW repair bill on 11/18:

    $3464.54

..keeping in mind about 1/2 of that was a new HVAC unit and evap core.
The bill was just about 50/50 between parts and labor.
I'm not bragging here at all, but it's a dam good thing I bought the rig outright or I cant believe the debt load I would be carrying...

So while I was discussing this with 'blackw900' and he finally regained consciousness - he told me to get it right back there and DEMAND things fixed, especially after dropping that amount of coin...so the rig is back at KW...I am sure someone will call me Monday AM.

PS. Portage is about 2hrs north west of me.
