Thanx Jimmyboy, I'm pretty sure I'm gonna pull for them. I've been speaking with the recruiter lady there and they really do seem to be ok. She did mention quite a bit of Canadian driving which will be new to me but no problem. Thanx again for your input.

Thanx, I'm currently with them as of now renting an older (way older) 04 Freightliner Columbia until my Volvo arrives (I bought brand new). Been there since May 23 and its actually not so bad. Just can't wait to get out of this old truck. I would never lease purchase from any company either, to me it's the biggest rip off and on top of that I would not want to do that on an old truck. It seeems like all of Bisson's tractors are retired Crete or Werner trucks with a lot of miles, aside from that the company thus far is wonderful. I'm getting plenty of miles and everyone there is awsome. Dispatch is wonderful and no real sitting. If this keeps up i will be with them for a long time to come. Just tired of the wait for the new ride (anxious), the dealer swears it'll be in by next week (beginning) I guess we'll see. I'm at home now but am on my way to mass with a heavy load, just so happened it swung me back by the house so I decided to sleep in my bed instead of in the truck lol. Thanx for the update too hopefully I'l see you around.

Good Post, guy's Thanks, I have been going back and forth for a few months with signing on with them, when the company I was with stopped paying me for 7 weeks, it made my decision eaiser, I am from New England and didn't want to sign on with an outfit somewhere out west, they are only a couple of hours from me, the funny thing that concerns me is, I was told it was pretty much regional work and Canada was never mentioned, I even kept my own plates and card, it was their suggestion, but I am only registered east of the Miss River, they told me that it was fine No problem. By the sounds of it I don't want to go into Canada anyway, I own my truck although it is older an 04 it only has 400k on it, I can't do any worse than what has happened at where I was just at anyhow, and pulling vans will be a nice break after Flat Bed for the past 15 Years,,I Just hope I can pull some kind of profit, after breaking even here for the past 2 months due to an astronomically high trailer rental, I am far behind the 8 ball, I dont know if I can get it back, but I am going to try, but if Bisson dosn't work out thats it I am done.

I lasted a week, the numbers just are way off, plus I thought because I was told I was going to get 1.11 a mile but it was actually .93, It was not explained properly to me how their system works, part my fault, and I was scrambling to keep it moving, but I also have a truck payment and I pay for health Ins, for my family which here in Mass, due to our awsome manditory health care, cost me 1200 a month, You don't even need a calculator to figure that one out, throw in 2 car payments a mortgage, a 13 year old Daughter, a 11 year old son and 2 200 lb bull mastiffs, and I was in the red before I even signed on, They really are nice people to deal with, but again like every other trucking company out there, If You don't ask specifically every question the right way, they won't tell, IE: I asked numerous times about a trailer rental fee and got the same answer every time,"nope we don't charge You a fee for rental" and they don't but there is a pretty chunky fee every time You drop and hook, never mentioned it to me till the day I was there, kind of shady, and there were quite a few more of these things, as I was doing the orientation it just seemed like I was at a check out counter and the bell kept going ding ding,,,, there really was alot of add ons that were never mentioned before actually being there, my fault for not using a bigger shovel to dig with when inquiring..Also when I originally started talking to them one of my big questions was do You do alot or any grocery type loads, or food, perishables, etc, I was told No. That is wrong.. Again if You are paid off, you may make some coin, but really who can run for under a dollar a mile, when fuel is hovering around 3 bucks,, and I am sure they would offer a better rate if they could, but they are not special and besides a few paper mills, for dedicated You can depend on loads right off the board, and You know who you will be dealing with at that point, turn the ringer off!!!!!! or give CH a bad cell#.. Whatever really i was toast before I tried them, it was a last ditch attempt, when your falling down a ditch You tend to scratch and claw to stop, but why? so I can stay away from my family which is my life, for 10 days at a whack, take all sorts of risk, legal, health, etc, work 90 hr weeks, to pull a paycheck You can make at wal-mart sweeping floors, literally !!! No thanks, Banks coming to collect the truck, and I will start credit repair almost immediately, the repo will be cleared in 2 years but that is a different gig. (Hmmm) I will say it again, nicest people I have dealt with in the industry in a long while. And if You have no payment and run like a whip, You may do ok there, but other than that they are the same as every other sign on company out there, and it may look better than the rest on the billboard, but when you actually get there, Ding! Ding! Ding!

Dino is correct, Yeah thats how it was explained to me, I think it was whenever I drop and hook a new trailer at the yard it was 50 smacks, There are just too many add on's 5% here and there add up and of course with fuel, and it may go down but never back to under 2.30 i bet. even at that price it is too much, I finally got well after another 2 day hospital stay, i had a listeria infection which is a kind of food poison but rare and can be deadly, in my case it made me wish I was dead, but I dehydraded to the point that my hands started to peel, I know too much info sorry, but I landed a job driving a corporate limo, taking big shots to logan and in and out of the city, Brand new 2010 lincoln, they started me at 18 an hour and there is overtime and benfits, plus I take the ride home, so for now it will pull some much needed cash to catch up on every bill that is late, because every bill is late. But it is nice to be home and it is nice to leave for work and know I will be back the same day,.. I did the numbers again and there was no way I was going to make any money, and even if I had a good week You know how hard You have to run to accomplish that. And it would have been a paycheck that You could pull on a 40 hr day job for sure.. When I bought the truck it was to sign on with a gentleman who had a large account near my home, I was running Local and doing 3 loads a day and home for dinner, they were all over weight, we just had to get the permit which in mass is no big deal. 3 laods a day would clear me 1000 dollars give or take a couple hundred, so that is why I bought it in the first place, but of course things went hay wire, and they kicked us out after only 3 months, we should have been steady for at least 6. But I was told it is steady and has been for a number of years and it was, but with this economy they almost closed the place, just a streak of bad luck nothin but. So a like a good solider I tried to keep afloat trying to find work and maybe land a good lease deal, I tried that is for sure but they just don't exsist any more.. I will get through the credit deal after they repo the truck, credit can be fixed and fixed good, been there done that. Good luck to You guy's I hope things fall in place for You nd it gets eaiser. God Bless!

Hello all, I just happend to run accross this site purley by accident. however, just to be up front with everyone, my name is Mark Hammond qnd I'm the VP/GM for Bisson, acctually I have developed and run our truck load division for over 10 yeras now. However, I was also an O/O for over 20 years and have a total of 36 years in the industry. There are a few things that I would like to clear up for everyone, 1, we dont run Canada, w2e used to but very limited basis. perhaps you have us confused with Bison. as far as trailer rent, no we dont charge trailer rent, but yes we SHARE in the yard service fees. it's no where near 50.00 however. more like 25.00 to 30.00 and thats only 80% of the charge we pay 20% of that charge as well. we are charged that fee from all the yards service companies oout there.
But more importantly I wnat everyone to know that I have recnetly put two of our senior O/O that have been sucessful business men for many years with and before coming to work with us. I'd be happy to give their contact information so you can chat with them if you like. I understand how you feel getting the information form me, since I'm in senior Mgt. so I 'm just giving you and opertuitiy to hear it from one of our driver mentors, I can assure you get the straight dope from me, but just in case this is another option. even if you work here presently and see how picking one of these guys brains could be helpful to you. just call me in the office and I'll hook you up.
as far as our lease purchases, yes they are older trucks, however, recently we have bought to newer 379 petes as well. but I can also promis you that when I started that program at Bisson, I commited to lease the truck for exzatly the amout we paid for them. simple as that. yes a lot of carriers gave the lease purcahse program a very bad name. I can tell some real horror stories, thats why when I set ours up I wasnt going to allow it to fall into that catigory. acctually I belevied we have leased about 60 trucks in the past two ro three years now. many of them have gotten paid off and the driver either rebuilt, or up granded into another truck, some bought new for a dealer and some did another L/P from us. its all depending on their situation.
the bottom line people, is as an old driver myself, all I'd like to see is every one of you make a honest living in this very difficutl business, if your sucessful then were succesful. God Bless and please be safe out their...Drifter.... -
