I have something to say about the HOS.

    I just wish that I could stop the 14 hour clock midday. Say I get the sleepy eye going or a headake or some other problem that I need to pull over for a bit. Either that or get the places that I load and unload at to quit putting time stamps on the slips.

    Well, I worked in Europe, with their mishmash of HOS regs, I worked in eastern Europe when there was no law at all, I worked in the US when 10 hours was the limit and I have to say, the best laws I have ever run under are the present Canadian set, which is 13 hours driving in 14 hours, followed by 10 hours rest. Someone finally figured out there are 24 hours in a day. Whoopee! Only possible gripe is the 36 hour reset. I would like to see 48 to keep us on 24 hour days seven days a week.

    yes--i have to agree--the canadian hos are pretty good
    can you imagine what a cluster f it would be if there was an 11 hour limit?
    with 13 its seems almost perfect(with a bit of cheating ) to make it to the nap spots for the night

    Injun I was referring to the n00b drivers, people that have not figured out how to budget time. I agree the 70 should go, but I would like 12hr driving and 10 sleeper. That leaves 2 hours to whatever.:biggrin_255:

    For me the 48 hour reset doesn't make sense. 36 hours is also too long. 34 hours is just right, 10 hour break at the end of your day plus a 24 hour break for a day off. You now restart on the same work schedule that you left. A 48 hour break would put a daylight driver back to work at night or a night driver that usually shuts down at dawn will finish his 48 hours at dawn and be driving days. Does not make sense to me.

    36 hours is a long time to spend in a truck stop in a 70" sleeper when i get back on the road im tired from siting around not doing #####. I just wish you could stop the 14 hour clock sometimes it takes me almost 6-8 hours to get loaded i was in a pipe yard a few months back got there at 10 am i was told at 7pm thay were ready to load me i did not get to leave untill 8pm whats a driver to do

    Or fundamentally change the OTR trucking industry.

    Meaning, no more "super regional", and "lower 48", but only running within and around your satellite terminal.

    Then of course, O/O's, rail, and teams moving from region to region.

    I say they need to throw the whole #### book away and just institute one simple rule, 10 hours a day driving, and be done with it.
