NO, only the experienced drivers take the road test at orientation,,you will go with a mentor for a bit,, THEN when you've gotten your 240 hrs OTR, you will take a road test,,then your own truck.

That doesn't sound right.
So if I am just out of trucking school and into orientation for Swift, I won't have to do a skills and road test? -
When I was in orientation last month in Phoenix, everyone did a drive test. it was just a drive around the block nothing fancy. They just want to see how you shift and handle the truck. They use it to determine how long you will go out with a mentor if you have no recent experience or just out of school.

Well I just got off the phone with the driver recruiter and she told me I will not have to take the road test that is last years deal this year they took it out because you go with a mentor no matter what just what the recruiter told me looks like I leave for atlanta on the 14 of dec. Anyone else going

Not sure but im not all that weird about it road test i grind gears a lil but that is to be expected from someone just out of trucking school. If swift dont take me on after my road test then Werner will take me...

Do you have to talk while you drive like that smith system thing commentary drive I have been out of school for a good 3 to 4 months now so I'm prolly going to be rusty lol but all is well I am set up for orenentation on the 14th in atlanta can't wait but only thing is gonna miss xmas with the family

In Phoenix we didn't have to talk or do a pretrip or brakes test, just got in a cruised down the road. I went with another guy and we switched half way around the block, think I only drove for maybe 15-20 mins..
