Has any one tried the new Straight Talk phones yet? They sell at Wal-Mart. There are 5-8 different phones for $40-$120 bucks, and they are all pre-paid. There are only two plan options. $30 for 1000 minutes and 1000 texts, plus 30mb of web. And $45 for completely unlimited mins, texts, and web. And the service area look real good
Any info would be great. I hope I'm not a sucker, cause I just bought 3 of 'em.
$45 Sraight Talk UNL.

I just recently bought my wife and daughter them to see how they work. So far no complaints. Does not have all the bells and whistles that alot of phones have, but with unlimited everything for 45 a month and having a teenage daughter that is a texting machine I like it so far.
They run off Verizon towers. -
Yeah, my 18yo has probably already gotten $45 worth of texts in 3 days

We seem to get great service # here, just wondering how it will be on the road -
Straight talk uses both Verizon and ATT, derpending on which phone you buy.

I was in Kentucky with mine a few months back and had no coverage from elizbethtown south to southwest of there. If you look at the coverage map looks like there using verizon prepaid areas for there phones.

I have this phone and the internet sucks in every way! The phone works ok for calls but if you want a usefull internet conection dont even bother with this!
-
It only works off of Verizon native towers. Unlike Verizon contract phones they will not roam on any other carriers towers.

The wife and I have it. We wen out to Colorado for vacation in September, and they worked perfect out there too. Slow internet, but I knew that going in. Love my low cell phone costs!

Me and my family all have straight talk. We are very happy with them. I run the Dakotas, Wyoming and Montana often. Rarely do I not have a signal!

I have Sprint Everything $99 plan with a new Epic 4G, which IMO is worthless at this time. I ran speed tests with 3G and 4G from the same location and 3G was 3X faster! You can't use the internet or data while using the phone or the internet drops. The hotspot is worthless due to the download speeds that are slightly above dial up so I cut it off for 29.99 a month. I have to pay a premium data charge of $10 a month with the Epic. I have a Millenicom air card which costs $59.95 a month which is what I was trying to cut with all this other stuff that's worthless... (long sigh) Anyway, I just bought a hot little netbook with an Atom 550 processor that works great and is very portable. Since it is so portable and has a 13 hour battery life this would allow me to stop using the phone for any internet access. Maybe I'd be better off with the Straight Talk Unlimited phone and forget about using a phone for web browsing altogether? Sprint bill seems to get up to $160 or so every month. Then there are the charges for the directory assistance at $1.75 each! How do you sell an "EVERYTHING" plan and then charge for everything??? Sprint $160 plus Millenicom $60 = $240. Straight Talk UNLTD $45 plus Millenicom $60 = $105. Also saw those T Mobile ads that sounded like a good deal (and had a very hot girl), anyone know anything about that service?
