So, there I was watching a stop sign that people run in this industrial area, and a car runs it. I stop him and tell him the reason he got stopped. I ask him where he is coming from, and he tells me from a cookie plant. I ask him why he was there, and he tells me he is a salesman for Marten Transport.

I know this particular cookie plant ships frozen candies, so I say "just out of curiosity, what kind of rates are you getting from here?" He tells me that a full reefer load to Chicago pays $1.20 a mile, at which I scoff and say "how are y'all able to get by on those rates?" He quickly says, its the area they are hauling to, if the load was being hauled to Pennsylvania, it would dictate closer to $1.80 a mile. I was still amazed at the low rate. I decided not to write him a ticket, after all since they are bottom feeding, he probably couldn't afford it. I started to tell him that friends of mine in the area haul frozen chicken with just their dot number and no authority for $2.00 plus a mile, but I didn't want them to come in and cut the rates. I should have asked him for an application:biggrin_25513:
