    I ran Cats for many years starting with the venerable old 1693...My last one was a 3406 B but when Cat offered us the C-15 and called it a motor, They lost me!

    Don't worry about ever seeing me in a Playschool plastic truck...It'll never happen!

    4 MPG? Man, I must be a terrible driver I can't seem to get less that 6.8 out of mine!
    But I'll keep tryin'!:biggrin_2559:
    That local guy was pretty much right...

    Yeah...I'd much rather have a CAT so I could visit repair shops all over the country and get to know the local tow truck operators:biggrin_25523:!

    I hate cabovers...But that was a nice truck even if it was a cabover!

    I will somewhat agree with you, except for pointing out the the first generation of the C15/16 is truly a high point for cats truck engine line. They seem to be a culmination of all the good things that came out of the previous generations.

    Now, as far as I'm concerned anything after the 6NZ/7CZ serial numbers should not even be painted yellow, and it has only gotten worse with the newer designs, right up to the point of the worst being the most recent.

    That's funny because that's my exact opinion on Cummins. The last N14 we had was a gutless boat anchor that cost more in maintenance than it ever made. It doesn't mean all of them are junk, it just means the one I had was junk. Doesn't matter what color then engine is, if it's unreliable you tend to get gun shy on buying another. Last truck I sold was an '03 MBN (you know the one that was supposed to be a POS) and at around 750k miles and never had anything replaced besides a power steering pump (original injectors, turbo ect.....even the water pump was original)

    I love our 6nz's but have zero complaints about either of our acerts and wouldn't hesitate to buy another of either one. Engine wise even the latest Cat was great. It's all the BS hanging on the side of them that made them a PITA. I mean it's not like the Signature series with habit of throwing rods, I think all the problems are EPA junk related, not hard part failures.

    Anyone remember the days you would buy a NEW truck to get away from playing weekend mechanic? Now you keep your old stuff to keep from being broke down. Thank you Al Gore.:biggrin_25513::biggrin_2556:

    I've owned 2. A t600 and a W900L. The first one was capable of passing 7 and the 2nd capable of 6.

    Not possible, my Playschool truck dealer told me so and they know everything! Everyone knows you ABSOLUTELY MUST drive a plastic bubble truck with a tiny motor in order to make any money today. I guess if you hauling $1.00 freight (or below) you'll believe whatever anyone tells you.:biggrin_2559:
