I still see a few 10-20yr Volvos in FL. Alot of LTL carriers still run them and they are in good condition. On the other hand, I see more W9's/379's run by tanker companies.

you have volvo penta(marine and industrial) and volvo construction equipment dealers in NA,at least engine parts shouldnt be a problem.

 

I see -88 W900L standing in my yard that has been falling apart a long before it got here. I also see many -88 Euro trucks still earning money, unlike that KW. If you say longest lasting truck, remember to add 'in US markets'. If a truck hasn't changed much during the last 30 years it doesn't mean it's a good design, it means they don't care to spend the money ripped from customers to develop a better truck. But don't worry, when the US economy goes down and it becomes a new 3rd world country, all the manufacturers are bought by europeans, japanese and chinese and you get only trucks that are like in the rest of the world. Parts availability is then no problem and COEs are easy to service.

They are all the same. They make/loose you money.

 

I love Volvo for what it had done to American Owner Operators. All those unreliable motors, automatic trannies, lack of parts - all those big fleets who use them fleet cheap #### trucks got what they deserved - solid bill for its own greed. Thank you Europe! We waiting for more of your c rap!

 

Easy now, Lenny loves to try and force his European COE junk on us. Don't let him fool you though. They would run trucks like ours if their city's weren't designed for OX carts. Europe was/is so awesome people lined up to get on on wooden ships for a LONG slow trip to get away from it.

The entire country of France is smaller than Texas, and Austria is the size of Maine. So if you consider we have states larger than their entire country it's no wonder they drive goofy looking trucks.

Automatics were in BIG trucks long before VOLVO showed up , been problems with engines regardlerss of the make , and I guess you always lucked out at dealers with "Yes its in stock" regardless of what emblem was on the truck.

 

the bad thing is that if you have volvo engine and volvo i-shift volvo dealer may help you ONLY!
