BW9, we're not all like that!

Most of the trucks, yes, are programmed for either daytime headlights or marker lights. I had the automatic headlights turned off in mine when I had it in the shop.

But I do like to run with my markers on, especially in the desert. It makes it less likely a four-wheeler will claim they didn't see me.

This thread was started way back in May and until now, there haven't been any threats of violence or property damage. If more shows up, I'm going to ask the mods to shut this one down as well.

but those company drivers DO have a choice....especially if they're in a Volvo...i know...cause you turn the switch once...u get your park lights on....turn to the next click...u get your headlights...and the last click are your fog lights. But BW is right....dunno why swift drivers have to run in broad daylight with their headlights and foglights on....lets not forget about the ones in the frickin' yard running around with em on....then once they park in the bobtail row and idle for the next 10 hrs...they forget they have em on still........

That don't bother me at all. One of the first things I did was buy a set of window curtains off ebay. Those things are like the old air raid curtains. They block everything completely, including the sun. Only cost me $35.

Swift company drivers aren't the ones idling away with their lights on. They would get fired for excessive idle time. It's the o/o's who are doing that. Fog lights? I actually see a higher percentage of o/o's running at all times with fog lights on. It's a bad habit, but one of the least of the issues we have. The only time I take issue with fog lights is when it's raining at night and there is no fog. They shine off the water on the road and blind me as completely as getting "brightsed" in my mirror when someone thinks they're "helping" me.

Most of the new trucks Swift is getting in have automatic headlights that turn on as soon as the air brake on the tractor is released. It's in the computer programming. As I said earlier, I had mine reprogrammed to not do that. Company drivers do not have that option. Before I had the problem corrected, and if someone in front of me was backing in to a dark area, I would set the air brake so the lights would turn off. I'm not going anywhere until he's finished backing anyway. It's called courtesy.

I am a 4wheeler and I think I can play devils advocate and lump all these questions together.

There is no one more important then me.
No matter what vehicle you are operating, my agenda will take top priority and you are nothing more then an obstacle.
It does not matter if I jeopardize the safety of the roadway as long as I can get to where I need to be in the time frame I have allowed.
    Did I miss anything?

Well said. Concise and succinct. And you are absolutely right.

Society has trained us to rush, rush, rush. Nobody stops to smell the roses anymore. People are afraid of each other when a simple smile and greeting would most likely alleviate that fear. But we are all too busy to bother. So, we get upset and create more anger and fear instead.

It's a viscious circle. So, who's going to be the first to break it?

I dont hold it ageanst them, I owned a few sports cars and pickup tucks before driving an 18 wheeler. I did same thing to truckers, not intentionally just happens. Usually after I made a mistake, the trucker would blow there air horn flip me off whatever, just thought to myself its just some smelly retarted overpaid fat lazy trucker who cares!

As a truck driver I assume the cars think that way about me. when they do stupid stuff. When I first started driving it pissed me off to the brink of insanity every time a car would do something stupid. Thing is, it only lasted for a couple minutes then I forgot about it. Another thing is, the more it happened the less it bothered me initially and the faster I forget about it. . If you are an experienced driver and it still bothers you, you need to find a different profession, for everyone's safety. Given that it happens so many times each day the level of anger you feel is very unhealthy, can lead to lead to many stress related diseases, and also the built up anger can turn you into a psychopathic killer, kinda like the disgruntled postal worker. Maby you be the next cereal killer we read about.

Another solution if it bothers you is to simply stop off at a firework store on your route and buy a bunch of big or small bottle rockets, single shot or multiple shot roman candles depending on your mood and maby even a milk crate of molotov coctails. In a barrage of flames you can make your point! You is one trucker dem pesky 4 wheelers wont be messin with. The bright side of this is that your are releacing your anger, which means it not being bottled up and will probley be the outlet you need so you dont turn into a cereal killer
