Thanks,

I just purchsed a TND 500. I could see the Freewy--"Big Road, ahead, visually. Yet the TND 500 wanted to route me 3.5 miles to get me on that very road I could see.
WHY!? -
would really help with details. have not clue where you were.
thanks
Mark -
it sends me miles out of the way to a truckstop right off the exit all the time. must have some issue with the exit or road. sometimes it makes no sense though, like it doesnt see an entrance. it will have me pass the pilot,go a mile, do a u turn, then go back right where i was and turn in. maybe doesnt want you to cross traffic. either way im such a rebel i just pull in the driveway, ignoring my gps lol
-
OK, now I'm confused. Today I crossed into New Brunswick from Maine (Eastern TZ to Atlantic TZ). The TND never said a thing, yet it changed the time appropriately.
On another subject, the TND attempted to route me to the old border crossing at Ferry Point in Calais, ME which is no longer accepting commercial vehicles. The new bypass and commercial vehicle border crossing south of town has been open since 2009. The reason it attempted to do this is that the entire bypass is MISSING from the map! Following the TND could have resulted in some serious fines. These are the things that are starting to make me lose faith in this product. If Google can get it right, there is no reason that Rand can't.
Mark Kling Thanks this. -
I see this happen quite a bit. Not just entering truckstops either. It seems to have an aversion to crossing an interstate then taking a left hand onramp. Instead it will tell you to take the right hand onramp, go to the next exit, then turn around and head back the way you originally wanted to go.

The key to successful use of the TND is to review the route in advance and not just blindly follow it's directions. I think that is true of any GPS system. -
i just tried to update my 700, it says no drivers, then wouldnt do anything, now i cant even shut it off, just says connected on the gps, even with no cable in it,if i push the reset button will it mess anything up? lose my updates or my history or anything?

reset button on the back and power it on again..It will not affect your settings.
Thanks,
Mark
