I've been off caffeine for several years and will be new to otr. Are there any drivers not taking caffeine (coffee, sodas, caffeinated energy drinks) out there? What do you use for a pick-me-up when needed?
thanks

Really, you have 2 legal choices for a pick-me-up, as far as I see it. Some sort of caffeinated beverage, or, sleep.
-
Or, André, you can have some natural energy food such as fruit. A shot of 100% orange juice is effective as well. Or eat an apple. Or a bag of grapes to nibble on is also good.
-
Fruit has never been a pick-me-up for me. Unless I eat lots, and have to stay awake to make it to the washroom.
-
I always bought the Walmart brand flavor packets and poured them in going down the road.

Your diet is the best pick-me-up, foods high in starch and (wheat) carbs will drag you down - necessitating the need to other supplements.
Smaller meals, lots of (real 100% juice), and liquids in general do it for me.
Though I will never give up coffee ...sherd Thanks this. -
i dont drink soda when i drive. i find it makes me more tired toward the end of the driving day. instead i grab about a case of water and a box of flavor packets like Hawaiian punch or the orange flavor and make me up some of them. i also tend to snack on sunflower seeds when i drive as the motion of throwing away the shells helps keep me alert. plus i like the salty flavor. i also chew gum. energy shots dont do anything for me. i cant stand coffee.
as stated above sleep is your best bet. 8 hours AT LEAST if u can get it. more if its broken up. broken up sleep is the worst kind on the body. -
I am non caffeinated right now...blah. Got to have my energy drinks. Wish I could get off them though
