I have been driving for a single account for 13 years now, great home time, decent pay/benefits until recently (insurance is going into the toilet in 2011). I am trying to find something that will get me home at least once every 5-7 days, and if i can't find that, something that will run my butt off while I'm gone. I see so much positive/negative on here that I'm having trouble picking a company to even check into. Any info you guys can supply will be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
13+ years at same job, Have to find another, scared to death, need help picking one!

You should be able tofind something pretty good with that much time on the job, assuming you have a good mvr. Don't settle for a crappy large carrier. You could probably find a good small niche carrier or something like that and make good money. Depends on where ya live too I guess. Good luck.

I agree with BullDawg on this, you have a great amount of time at the same job, use it as leverage, be picky if you can. What you could do is get the phone book out, find all the trucking companies in your area then go talk to them face to face. I did that once and found the best driving job I had ever had(Which I was a ####### for leaving. But I learned from that mistake.) Alot of the smaller companies that have the really good driving jobs don't advertise and rely on word of mouth to hire their drivers. So walking in and talking to the boss man gets you a leg up.

What's your experience? Flatbed, dry van, reefer, tanker, or maybe end dump?
I would think you could stand a great chance to get daily home time and a better than average pay/benefits package so long as your MVR is clean. -
Pretty much all of my driving experience is dry van, and my MVR is spotless
I will definitely check into some of the smaller locals, and see if i can't find something local with one of them. Guess I'm starting to get old, switching jobs never bothered me when I was younger!
