I got a pair of HID Head lights in my 2000 Kw and have not had a problem in about 6 months that they have been on my truck.. but I've only been running in florida. I shut them down when I pull in scale house's and never had a problem..Now i am worried because I am fixing to head out over the road and dont know how other states might take it.. any one with HID's that might be able to tell me anything about that...

I didn't know you couldn't have them. I've been looking for ways to upgrade my headlights but have not considered and HID conversion because of the added heat and what that might do to the housings and wiring.
-
In my truck it was a little hard, becuse I had to buy the conversion housing's as the t600 has sealed beams from the factory ..but I am running the factory harness and wiring and have not had a problem.. I don't think I can drive with out them ..lol they make such a difference at night its incredible.. like I said in florida I run every where , but i am worried about other states.. -
I don't know how bright your lights are but do you get other drivers flashing brights back at you, a good sign they are to bright. I hate all the bright lights on all the newer vehicles, and the ads on tv about how good you can see with xxxx type headlight really pizz me off, of course you can and you can do the same thing by running your brights at all times. Several years ago a friend told me he had just installed new Sylvania xtra vision or some such thing, so monkey see monkey do, I put a set in my truck, the first night on the road I turn them off and back on as a stick hauler out of N.C. passes me going up Jellico, he tells me I can take those senior citizen headlights an stick up my sitter, I got off at the next exit and adjusted them down as low as I could til I got back home and changed them back. I realize you can see better with these brighter lights but the last thing I want is a blinded driver coming at me, especially on a two lane. Turning them off at scale houses will get you in trouble in some states like Tennessee, they want to see them on. I'm not trying to be an old fogey, but just my experiance.

I suppose just going to a better bulb would do the trick for me. I don't drive with my brights on to compensate.
-
If they are DOT approved you shouldn't have a problem, if thry're not sooner or later you will have a problem.
-
Well I only put the hid's as my low beam and left the high beam stock. I think I am just going to put my original low beams in the place of the high beam and if I have any problems I can just say the hid's are my high beam as they are 50 times brighter then my high beams now... I've seen other trucks with hid's . The new t660 come with hid's from the factory. And I know this guy who runs Miami to LA all the time And he has hid's. Ill be hitting the road this weekend out of Miami goof to dallas ,I'll let you guys know how it goes

HID that have DOT or SAE on them are perfectly legal. Use them, they're a heck of a lot easier on the eyes.
-
Well Iam on my first run . Miami ,Fl to Florence, NJ went thru GA, north and south Carolina and just now VA and have not had a problem with the lights .
-
Many new cars and trucks come with factory installed HID's.
