I love that idea, but getting your license back after losing it for medical reasons is not very easy.

End of the road........I changed the post to omit that statement you commented on. I didn't think it was responsible telling guys to do this, especially if they didn't get their licence back.

I knew a driver that full on fell asleep and rode the truck into the ditch. He told everyone he blacked out,was off 6months on comp and then got his licence and his job back.....never run the truck again through the night and never got any grief over it. He did his job and the company left him alone. This most likely is the exception rather than the rule.

I don't want guys getting into trouble for something I suggested.

Big Freight is a company to stay away from if you can at all possibly help it. It is like alot of companies where the father busted his ### to build up a honest reliable company only to have his kids take it over and turn it to ####. They have this opinion drivers are a dime a dozen, havent talked to a driver who has worked there that has had anything but grief from them. They go through drivers faster than water through a floodgate and are constantly advertizing like one of those min wage telemarketing firms.

The contract with Big Freight does say you have to pay back the training costs but it does not set a time limit. According to the law you could make $5 a month payments and there is not a dam thing BFS can do about it. Been chatting with some of the drivers I know who were under contract with them. If you quit and they try to deduct from your paycheck go to the labor board. Another option every payday take a week off wont get paid as much but over time BFS will get pissed and terminate your contract they do that you dont have to pay them back a cent.

This is a very common occurrence. When you turn in your truck you must find out where it needs to be turned in at and get a signed (by an authority figure) receipt for the truck and its contents in good condition.

If you do not do this they have the opportunity to jam you for truck abandonment and any extras they feel like.

Don't look at what they put on your DAC....... You will be even madder!

Be prepared to pay for at least a mattress unless that sucker is brand new.
I would also back up the signed receipt with photos, CYA man.....

Thanks everyone for your posts. We'll keep these things in mind for next time. Believe me if he knew then what he knows now he wouldn't have signed that contract.

Next time he's on days off, have him go off on sick leave, even unpaid if you can afford it.And stay off untill he has been paid for the last trip he did. Then quit! I had to do this once from a company that was screwing with drivers final pay,I got all mine but boy were they ever pi$$ed at me.LOL :biggrin_255:
