walstib, GOOD LUCK! About the only thing I can tell you is mouth shut, ears open! You may have been an instructor in previous life, that is about to change as every day you are the student. That doesn't matter if you have 1 day or 20 years. There is always something to learn.
Tone down the attitude and grow a thicker skin. Once you are out on your own there wont be an instructor in the jump seat to help, oh sure you can call someone however trying not to run over anyone on the expressway or get run into might get in the way.
Remember ignorance begins when you think you have all the answers! Back to the mouth shut, ears open thing. A good attitude is needed as well as being good at thinking on your feet.

I come back to this topic very humbled, backing in the real world is a whole different animal, especially at night into a space at a truck stop after a long day...My leg starts shaking each time and it takes everything I have to stay slowed down from the self-imposed pressure I get seeing others watching and/or waiting on me...The truck seems like it's 100' long!...The first time, I was profusely sweating by the time I got in my space...
Backing at customer docks is just a little less stressful, so far...
You can all tell me, "we told you so!"

naw i won't say that....you know it now so, hey rookie welcome to the club.... you are gonna have days when you are the sh%t and other days when you are stepping in it...LOL make sure you take your time and ignore all the people waiting on ya, do it right and let them yak who cares as long as you don't hit the shiny large car you park next to man!!!
