Why don't you come to the United States? You don't even have to speak English to be a truck driver in the US, and if you speak Spanish and immigrate to the country illegally, the government will give you free health care, education, and child support. Taxes are much lower than Canada too!

    Hi Geoffrey,
If you're serious about coming to Canada, you should apply to immigrate to Quebec. You would be given more points on your application as Quebec is desperately looking for French-speaking people as their population ages. They have a separate immigration program which is part of the main Canadian program but has some different requirements, set up to encourage immigration to their province.
As to whether you want to drive a truck when you get here, you should think long and hard about it. It is not a respected position in North America, with few rewards.
Especially long-haul driving, which is where you can be gone from your home and family for weeks. You often sleep in a sleeper berth the size of a coffin, and for all of this, you would make more money in almost any other job in your home city.
On the other hand, driving a truck locally around your city or region, it is quite different. You are usually home at night, the trucks are well maintained, and many of the trucking jobs are union. The kind of trucks are like dump trucks, cement trucks, crane trucks and delivery trucks.
Also in Quebec, you are more likely to fit in as a French-speaking immigrant in a French-speaking province. English Canada is having a lot problems with the concept of immigration, just like in Europe, with a lot of distrust and even hatred to new-comers. They even have a derogatory term "new canadians", and it isn't said nicely.
At least in Quebec, you wouldn't run into that, at least as much.
    Good luck with your plans,
    R.F
