I was wonderin the same thing....wouldn't it be an INTRAstate since it can't really be taken OUT of hawaii?? or is there some sort of magical hidden tunnel those of us on the mainland don't know about??

I know what your saying, but doesn't it have to be called an interstate for federal funding? If it was considered a intrastate highway wouldn't the cost be to the state only?
I'm just guessing here. -
Yes exactly. That's the reason why they call it interstate is for the funding. But at least they don't have chicken houses if you drive a big truck there.Les2 Thanks this.
