I was wondering what is the lowest limit for
oil pressure gauges while on warm engine on about 600RPM/Not Revving/Warm-Engine. Because when I drive between 1,200-1,400RPM's it's on 18 pounds per square inch. Then when I let go of the gas pedal it drops almost to the red space. Is it a problem with the engine or the piston cooling nozzles? and what is the normal?

It could be something as simple as a sending unit too. -
around 15 lbs at a hot idle, no less then 32lbs at 1400rpm or so. the norm is about 20 hot idle, 40 to 50 goin down the road. could be sending unit, i'm leaning towards oil pump/releive valve. oil press problems are frequent for n-14/m-11 cummins. check rods and mains, check main caps for fretting...also oil pump press. relive valve may need shimmed.....or replacement of the oil pump. doubt if its piston cooling nozzles unless they are just pi$$ing oil everywhere on the out side.....good luck bud...

Drive along with normal pressure on the pedal while on level ground, probably around 55-65 MPH. Check what the oil pressure is. Let completely off the pedal so that the engine is now holding the truck back. If the oil pressure goes up by more than a couple of pounds, the main bearings are bad.
king Q Thanks this. -
I have seen a piston cooling nozzle 2 times on N14 broke off in side. So pressure would drop off at idle to about 5psi but go up to 25-30 on high 1500 rpm

I had one that the gear on the oil pump slipped and would only produce oil press at rpm, or if cold. But that only lasted a couple days until the shaft wore and seized the engine, as the shut down feature had been disabled in the ecm. My advise get it looked at asap! Good Luck.
