For all us newbies having difficulty getting started for one reason or another, I thought I'd post a old Buck Owens tunes called Hirin' Time. Goes something like this:

"Oh, it's cryin' time again, you're gonna not hire me"
    I can see that
go away look in your eyes
I can tell by the way that you tell me mister
That it wont be awhile before its hiring time"

Now they say that absence from trucking makes the heart grow fonder

And that tears are only rain to make want grow
Well my love for your company could never grow no stronger
If I live to be a hundred years old

"Oh, it's cryin' time again, you're gonna not hire me"

I can see that go away look in your eyes
I can tell by the way that you tell me mister
That it wont be awhile before its hiring time"

Now you say that you've found someone you like better

That's the way it's happened every time before
and as sure as the sun comes up tomorrow
Hiring time will start once I walk out the door

"Oh, it's cryin' time again, you're gonna not hire me"

    I can see that
go away look in your eyes
I can tell by the way that you tell me mister
That it wont be awhile before its hiring time"

I will keep a positive attitude and wait until 2011. Then maybe I can sing another Buck Owens tune:

Open up your doors and let me come on in
Open up your doors and let my life begin
The sun's gonna shine there'll be blue skies again
When you open up your doors and let me come on in.

I know you've been pissed by a dumba** driver's affair
But buddy don't blame me I wasn't even there
Your long boring nights I will bring to an end
When you open up your doors and let me come on in.

Open up your doors and let me come on in
Open up your doors and let my life begin
The sun's gonna shine there'll be blue skies again
When you open up your doors and let me come on in.

Someone before me has treated your equipment like dirt
Someone before me has made your big ### hurt
Your long boring nights I will bring to an end
When you open up your doors and let me come on in.

Open up your doors and let me come on in
Open up your doors and let my life begin
The sun's gonna shine there'll be blue skies again
When you open up your doors and let me come on in.

January '10 accident with citation for "failure to maintain control," due to causing a collision/accident when I hit some ice and went left of center. No injuries, etc.. just damage to both vehicles. I was a good, obedient moron" and paid the citation, not even thinking to fight it, but doubt doing so would have changed the citation conviction. :biggrin_25510:

Also a April 08 traffic citation.

A few companies (Swift, Maverick) I called stated they "could not consider me until 1 year after the accident." I just hope they don't say "uhh..we meant to say (fill in the ______) years" when I call sometime in Feb/March 2011. Some companies (Roehl) told me 5 years!
I want to obtain my cdl in Feb/March, but am anxious that companies will not hire me, even at that time. Why pay for cdl school if it will be worthless? Swift's driving academy is an option I am considering d/t I would not think they would train me at their academy, then not hire me, but from what I read on this forum, it appears you never know. It seems like a crap shoot.

I checked into Panther a few weeks ago. I really would love to do flatbedding out of the gate (am I nuts?). I called SWIFT again today. Spoke to a recruiter who reiterated what another recruiter stated a couple months ago: "that I would be eligible for hire one year from the accident date." We will see after January 2011. He did seem a little unsure of himself in providing information over the telephone. May have been a new recruiter? He also confirmed that SWIFT hires drivers from Ohio for their flatbed division.

I could also write a Christmas tune. How's this, Bumby?

Bumpyi49 Got Caught stealing Roadkill Reindeer....
Couldn't wait to eat it Christmas Eve.....
You could tell us all you don't eat good opossum
But as for everyone here, we do believe.

He'd been drinking way too much Jim Beam
The truck stop hookers begged him not to go
But he left his common sense behind him
So he stumbled into the DOT out of the snow

When they found him lovin' on his coonhound
at the scene of the attack
There were paw prints on his windows
And incriminating dogbones in the back

Bumpyi49 Got Caught stealing Roadkill Reindeer....
Couldn't wait to eat it Christmas Eve.....
You could tell us you don't eat good opossum
But as for everyone else, we do believe.

NOw we're all proud of Bumpy
He took his visit with DOT so well
Seen him there standing on the roadside
Gettin' bent over by DOT as they ticket him..........."ah, hell"

    It's not Christmas without Bumpy
All the truckers dressed in black
And we just can't help but wonder
Should we take his porn and goody sack

Bumpyi49 Got Caught stealing Roadkill Reindeer....
Couldn't wait to eat it Christmas Eve.....
You could tell us you don't eat good opossum
But as for everyone else, we do believe.

Now his cooked goose is on DOT's table
and their haulin' off his rig
Throwin' his tired butt into the jail cell
Saying his hellos to "Mr. Big."

I've warned all my fellow truckers
Better watch yourselves and hide your beer
They should never give a license
To a man who drives a rig and steals dead deer

    Ohhhhhhh..........
    ..

Bumpyi49 Got Caught stealing Roadkill Reindeer....
Couldn't wait to eat it Christmas Eve.....
You could tell us you don't eat good opossum
But as for everyone else, we do believe.

    Just teasing Bumpy:biggrin_25525:
