Starting driving school on the 20th. Have been looking into the industry for several years now. Lost my job working for peanuts in the IT industry and finally decided to pursue my lifelong dream. Looking forward to getting to meet everyone.

Welcome. I've heard of IT plenty of times before but always wondered just exactly what it was and what the job duties are.

Wow, what a great reception! You guys are awesome!

Pretty much. I remember as a kid I would devour any books I could find on trucks and trucking...and there weren't many at the time! I'm 32. Don't know why I didn't think about trucks when I finished high school; I think I was trying to follow in my dad's footsteps or try to impress my girlfriend (now wife). :biggrin_2559: But yeah, pretty much all my life.

I'm not sure yet, still in the research phase...might not make the 20th, which is probably all right because I'll start right after the holidays. I'm wide open to suggestions but have already crossed one company off my list. :)

In my case it was usually the bottom of the rung, because I didn't finish college, although at my last job I was a supervisor for a while...which meant I was the first to go when things turned bad. :biggrin_2559:

Not really, which is one of the reasons I'm tired of it. Snellville and Gwinnett County in general have basically been swallowed up by Atlanta. Atlanta is like the Beast of the Southeast as far as cities go. :biggrin_2559:

I'm itching to move, though if I get on the road that's enough for me. My wife wants to stay here 'cause our family's here, which is probably a good idea. I've been itching to get on the road for years. I love the open road and relish the idea of traveling for weeks at a time. With modern technology like Skype and Facebook, there's not that feeling of separation. We stay really connected all day long, which is vital in maintaining a long-distance relationship of sorts. :)

    ChainBinder Thanks this.
