hello, there. I'm an OTR and I have being doing for the last 8 years, been there done that over the last year, I worked for marten transport back in 2003 and they were good back then and I'm considering about going back to them now, any advice about the company now, I heard they are focusing on doing more regional route, back in '03 marten has so much miles and so times they make you run illegally and I loved that. I only like to run 3800 miles and up per week, because if I left my home to be out there I should work for the money not to be sitting at a truck stop and talking ######## to drivers and waste times. so is marten still the same now or have they changed? :biggrin_25515:

Your losing out here talking ######## to drivers and waste times!

#1. Forced Perdeim on all miles.

#2. Sliding payscale for all miles.

#3. You send in your request at a termianl for service or repairs, and show up on the day requested, they may get to you in 2,3,4 days.

#4. your en route to your appointment, they will re route you hundreds of miles just so you can give your spare tire to another truck who needs it.

#5. Yes going to mostly a regiaonl and intermodel company.
Gone are the days of back to back to back 2,000 mile runs. Those go on the rail now. You'll get one good load coming out of the house, then get stuck being a regioanl ratt, doing short runs till it's time to go home.

#6. It used to be you could ask another marten driver , how things are going, now your lucky to get the time of day from them.
Moral is at a all time low. Gone are the good dispatchers, who you could call with anything on your mind.

#7. we are on E logs, which i like. But planners are still planning most loads on paper, then expect you to go over your 11/14 even though the computer says you can't. Then you get questoned, why you can't make the appoinemnt.

    # 8. gone is the garunteed home time pay of $50.00 per day for each day your not home.

#9. they are buying more and more used buildings that they now say are terminal. Example, our yrd in Irving, TX is leased space from a small food dist. No room to paqrk trailers, you have to bnlind side back into trailer parking. The drivers lounge is smaller tha most bathe room stalls. No showers laundry.
granted they are building a new place, but they rent/ buy places like Irving all over the country.
They just opend one in Phoenix, and you have to go to the trk stops for anything other than maint. or a place to sleep.

Been there for 5 years, and currently loking for something differant.
U may be wise and stay away.

Wow, okay, where do I begin...

    ROFLMFAO!

First, Marten is now on electronic logs (100%), so you can forget about running illegal. And, 3800 mi/wk? Not a chance. The average when I left last summer was 2k per week, and from what I'm told it did not pick up this holiday season.

And, with the new per diem payroll scheme, expect your paycheck to be small, and to take a major hit to your credit rating and any income dependent benefits, which are based solely on taxable income. The paycheck gets even smaller with their "fair pay" sliding scale pay system, the more you work the less you make.

From what I've seen and been told, the average net pay is roughly $520/wk right now, which is slightly lower than when I left last summer.

But thanks for the laugh, lol.

Do you know how much a tire cost on the road and mostly it is the closest truck with a spare tire and the area
