I have this same problem, making too much money. My fuel mileage at 33 or 34 miles per gallon, I just can't help but make too much money with freight paying 3.50 to 4.00 a mile.
is the $150K-300K a year income for truckers legitimate?

Heck I have been paying the CUSTOMERS to haul their freight just to get a TAX loss.
-
Yeah, the truck can make that amount, but the driver will make less after fuel/ins/maintainence/reg/permits etc are deducted.

As others have posted 150k-300k is very realistic~Gross money. That don't mean squat untill you know the costs involved.
rocknroll nik Thanks this. -
Maybe owner operator, team before taxes. As far as $300,000 that is totally possible! If you have a winning lotto ticket in your truck! I guess they failed to mention that in the ad! There's trucking companies that don't make that much in a year!

These internet cowboys wouldn't lie about their pay. What would they have to gain?
If you aren't making this much, you just haven't found the right company yet. -

I can certainly say that the "gross" amounts of all O/O's have declined too much in the last 10 years, and while I have been a "bedbugger" my entire 21 yrs.,I can not say that I am in any way an expert regarding freight rates, nor how to run as a freight O/O in any way. In the HHG,a O/O can still do $300,000 gross, but he #### sure has to sacrifice most,if not all home time, and be with a top notch company, and just like freight...those are a dying type nowadays. Even with a really good company,it is tough to gross $250,000,but is still common for a seasoned mover. It is alot of hard,back-breaking work, and true 1 on 1 dealings with people, and families, and many sacrifices, yet I typically have averaged no more than 60,000 miles a year for the last 12-15 yrs,and have had a few of less than 50,000 miles, with very decent home time. In all honesty...I could care less about my gross...it is my bottom line that I focus on. Hell...my best years in the industry have been the yrs which I grossed the least amount.
blade Thanks this. -
and that is actually prove he earned so much money, without someone else having to do it first.......why can't a person that SAYS he can prove it, just "do it".....?? without some sort of challenge...????
seems to me, someone else ought to "put their money where their mouth is", or "zip it".....
