Your wasting your time. Most of these guys have no idea what the rates are on specialized stuff. Of course the equipment costs more, maintenance is higher and usually come with a lot of hassles BUT......you do make more money. I can make between $5-$6k a week hauling overweight loads of steel with a daycab and be home EVERY NIGHT. So that's why I don't doubt for a second you could pull in that much easily hauling oversize/overweight loads.

You do have a point. All the op wanted to know was to make that kinda money would he have to work 80 hours a week driving over the road with all endorsements. Let me answer his question. Yes, you will have to work 80 hours a week running over the road while pulling double and triple hazmat tankers with a school bus full of passengers. I hope this helps.

That link is broken but go here and look around.... http://www.drive4ats.com/index.jsp

This is MY post of only 25 1/2 weeks of work during 08. http://www.thetruckersreport.com/tr...kers-advice/108869-my-25-week-w-2-proof.htmlI It's my W-2 BUT you have to realize as a company driver doing dedicated NYC I MADE more than most company drivers not to mention I made all that extra NYC pay which included a $25,$35,$45 and then $50 for EVERY drop except for the last one and I did at least 7 drops in two days totaling just $255 in drop pay alone! Add the $150 to cross a silly bridge! Not to mention if I did a breakdown it paid$.10 a case for the drop! So it's really NOT an across the board pay for most company drivers. It's also only 25 1/2 weeks due to undergoing a peepot ful of radiation and chemo to get rid of cancer! And you wonder why I love NYC! MONEY! The ONLY reason to live in a freaking closet! Yet rookies are falling all over this "training pay" crap and older hands are putting up with these fake pay cuts! Even if the doctors were to release me back to driving I'd have to much fun laughing at these CEO's and recruiters if they even offered me something as disgusting as what they call pay these days!

I just found my 2007 tax papers and I just might post it just to prove to some of these L/P drivers that as L/P they are getting bent and that company drivers are not being paid real money either!

Lets be fair. I drove for this company for 9 years before I had to quit! I made $.41 a mile as I had at termination time 32 years of experience but still these pathetic amounts I'm seeing now are a disgrace! Anything below $.32 is a disgrace even for this so called training! I made $.17 cpm on my first driving job in 1975! So these companies are making a bundle off of every driver not making the mim of $.32 company or 1.80 L/P or better for O/O!

Freight rates are out there people, all you have to do is search them to see you're turning the key for jack crap! But take that companies word for it and isn't it amazing that not a single company rep except for cheerleaders will come in here and say this is a lie! They can't as they would be lying! You have to under stand a recession or depression to know that freight rates don't go down it's just the areas of freight that go down!

Isnt that the truth. I grew up in trucking as have alot of other members of this forum, I dont know if that makes us jaded to our own industry or not. I can't imagine being unemployed or stuck in a dead end job and seeing the ads on Craiglist or those little trucking magazines saying that "Make $50,000 your first year", "Own your own truck with no money down", "Dedicated accounts, be home weekly" or "We will train you to drive a truck in 3 weeks". People dont get into trucking to fail and the ads do make it tempting. So they call a recruiter and get a whole earfull of how great everything is and how much better it is when you lease your very own truck. The BF's keep bringing them in and the realities of the job and the road keep spitting them back out. I find it sickening and embarassing that trucking companies flat out lie to these people who only want to better themselves and their families just to get them into orientation.
