I have 3406e cat 5ek 475. I put the 800hp cam in it and for some reason I keep breaking the hold down bolts. Cat has updated the bolt Im wandering if any one else has had this problem?

No, I have'nt noticed any difference in the jake. But so far I have broken 8 jake head bolts. Hopefully the new ones will hold up.

They torque at 80 ft lbs. Are you over torqing?
    Did you change the lifters?

my MBN broke two of the hold down bolts when it was flashed to 550 when it used to be 435 i took of the jakes and removed the broken bolts and replaced all of them and haven't had trouble, and yeah if you over torque they will break i had to find out the hard way i was planning on replacing the two but broke 3 more during torquing sequence

No, I torqued them to 80. Actually a mechanic put the cam in for me. Then I had to replace bolts on every Jake head. When I replaced these bolts the last time on the #1 Jake head I checked the bolts on the #2 Jake head all were lose exept 1. And I had just fixed them 2 months ago. Thinking about Locktight.

No the bolts don't have to be replaced everytime but may not be a bad idea. The latest torque that we use is 50nm plus 90 degrees for bolts and 140nm for the nut, if you can get a dealer with full S.I.S access to print out service bulliten No. SEBE8919-Exhaust rocker arm failure, you will have all this info.

    2Much2 Thanks this.
