If you are homeless and only had a second grade education, you will not make it at stevens. you need some good common sense to make it at stevens.

Quote: "complicated world of reefer freight".

ummmm. Keeping a box at the correct temperature is not complicated. Filling up an extra fuel tank under the trailer is not complicated. Other than that the job is the same as dry van isn't it? Waiting to be loaded/unloaded and odd appointment times is not complicated. Sorry, I have done reefer, am I missing something?

I've done both. I found reefer loads are more consistant. I've had to wait more on dry van loads. The good thing about dry van is most loads are lighter. Less fuel usage.
But all in all, I don't think it makes a hill of beans worth of difference.
I will say reefers tend to stay more consistant and during downturn economies, the miles are better.
The most consistant job I had was pulling a dairy tanker. Trouble was climbing up and down on a slippery truck in the rain. (I was in Tillamook Oregon...rained all the time!)

Good thing about a reefer is if there is no refrigerated freight in the area grab a dry load! If you're going the O/O route always buy a trailer that can double up on loads! Like a drop deck with bulkheads to turn into a flat.

If you look at the majority of the complainers they are the ones with 0-1 driving experience.Common sense should tell you if freight is slow for a reefer that its gonna be really slow for dry freight.Reefer means recession proof freight.
